EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.Some duties, knowledge, skills, and abilities may be performed in a learning capacity for entry-level (I Level) positions.Provides technical and specialized support to an assigned department’s business applications; ensures application functionality meets the ongoing business and utilization needs of the department based on an understanding of the department’s work processes and procedures. Investigates and resolves software issues for assigned applications; recommends corrective action or forwards to Information Technology Department staff and/or software vendors for further research and resolution. Monitors applications to ensure they are operating properly, providing the designed outputs, and meeting reliability standards.Assists in developing and implementing procedures to better utilize applications and to automate manual processes; trains staff to operate new and modified systems or procedures; develops operating procedures and user documentation.Maintains, optimizes, enhances, and administers department business systems; supports business systems applications; tests and evaluates business systems functionality. Serves as a liaison between department users, Information Technology staff, software vendors, and state and federal agencies related to system implementation, maintenance, enhancements, and/or issues. Performs quality assurance audits of electronic systems and records; ensures data integrity to support various areas of the business and integrated applications. Collaborates with department users to understand business processes and needs; analyzes and documents business processes and system requirements; recommends work processes and/or operating changes to complement system functionalities; consults on system and technology alternatives capable of addressing and resolving business needs.Designs and creates system reports using Business Intelligence Applications such as Crystal Reports, Structured Query Language (SQL), as well as other complementing software such as Excel and other reporting tools.Performs ongoing reviews of system applications and prepares recommendations for system improvements. Analyzes changes in program requirements and/or impact of changes in state and federal regulations on business applications; recommends modifications and/or enhancements to ensure business continuity and compliance. Coordinates, develops, and/or administers trainings to department staff and users related to department business applications. Develops technical system documentation such as application user manuals, training materials, and other relevant information.Ensures imports and exports of administrative data are completed accurately and timely; performs specialized duties in the design, development, and preparation of ad-hoc and formal reports encompassing state and federal data warehouses and web-based databases. Observes and complies with all County and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Depending upon the number of applicants who meet the minimum qualifications, the examination process may include a screening committee (pass/fail) and/or a written examination (pass/fail) and/or an oral examination (100%) which may include a written practical component to determine placement on the eligible list. Note: The top 40 written test scoring applicants with passing scores will be invited to participate in the oral examination interview process.
