Job Details
We are seeking a highly strategic and operationally focused Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization with a national footprint. This executive leadership role is responsible for overseeing all financial functions—including Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Tax, IT, and Strategy—while also serving as a key partner to the CEO and executive team.
This is a hands-on role ideal for a finance leader who thrives in fast-scaling environments and enjoys rolling up their sleeves to drive meaningful improvements across systems, processes, and teams. The ideal candidate has led the financial function for a multi-site organization with 300+ locations nationwide, has experience managing $700M+ in revenue, and has a proven track record of building financial infrastructure, improving operational efficiency, and supporting strategic growth initiatives.
This role requires local presence and will not consider remote or out-of-market candidates.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Own all aspects of financial management including budgeting, forecasting, P&L oversight, and cash flow
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, KPIs, dashboards, and analytics to support executive decisions
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and leadership team, providing insight into financial risks, opportunities, and overall company performance
- Develop and execute financial strategies that support short- and long-term business objectives
Infrastructure & Systems Optimization
- Design and implement scalable systems across Finance, Accounting, and IT departments
- Drive automation, standardization, and simplification of financial workflows and processes
- Evaluate and modernize ERP, accounting platforms, and reporting tools to support growth and efficiency
- Lead the integration of new systems and ensure cross-functional alignment
Accounting & Compliance
- Oversee general ledger, AR/AP, inventory, tax compliance, and internal controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Manage internal audits and develop safeguards against fraud and financial mismanagement
- Partner with external stakeholders including banks, auditors, tax advisors, and consultants
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor high-performing teams across Accounting, Finance, and IT
- Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and development paths for team members
- Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate cross-functionally with department heads to support operational and financial alignment
Growth & Business Planning
- Develop capital allocation strategies to support investment in growth initiatives
- Conduct financial modeling and scenario planning to evaluate expansion, new services, or strategic partnerships
- Participate in high-level business planning, identifying opportunities for margin optimization, cost reduction, and increased profitability
- While not required, experience with M&A and post-acquisition integration is considered a plus
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven track record as CFO or VP of Finance in a multi-location, national organization
- Experience overseeing $700M+ in revenue
- Demonstrated success leading finance and accounting functions for 300+ retail/field-based locations
- Deep experience rebuilding infrastructure, automating financial processes, and modernizing systems
- Strong background in cash flow management, cost controls, and strategic forecasting
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to be both a strategic advisor and operational executor
- Exceptional communication skills; able to clearly present financial concepts to non-financial audiences and executive leadership
- Stable, upwardly mobile career progression with a history of long-term roles and consistent advancement
- Collaborative, humble, and high-integrity approach to leadership
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required
- CPA or CMA strongly preferred
- MBA or advanced degree is a plus
- Minimum 15 years of experience in financial leadership, with at least 10 years managing accounting/finance teams
- Experience in a high-growth, lean, or entrepreneurial environment is highly valued
- Must be located in-market and able to work on-site with leadership and teams
