A great UHY client is seeking an Interim CFO to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing/managerial accounting background, experience with WIP, inventory and overhead absorption and experience supervising staff.
The Interim CFO role is an onsite role. This is a temporary contracted position with the potential for direct hire.
Interim CFO Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Financial Management
- Act as a key advisor to senior leadership on organizational financial performance, strategy, and long-term planning.
- Lead the development of financial strategy, including capital planning, investment priorities, and resource allocation.
- Build financial models and conduct analysis to support decisions related to growth, pricing, cost structure, and new business initiatives.
- Ensure financial stability and operational scalability by evaluating systems, processes, and organizational capacity.
Financial Reporting, Controls & Compliance
- Direct all accounting and financial reporting activities across the organization.
- Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, audit requirements, and internal control frameworks.
- Oversee the monthly close process to ensure accurate, transparent, and timely financial statements.
- Lead the annual audit process and manage relationships with external auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies.
- Strengthen internal controls, risk management practices, and financial policies throughout the organization.
Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting, long-range financial planning, and ongoing forecasting activities.
- Deliver scenario planning, cost analyses, and key operational metrics to inform business decisions.
- Collaborate with operations leadership to improve margins, optimize costs, and enhance operational performance.
- Support capital investment planning, ROI assessments, and working capital management.
Operational & Business Partnership
- Partner with cross-functional teams—including operations, commercial, design, and project management—to evaluate financial performance and develop data-driven tools.
- Oversee cost accounting, pricing methodologies, revenue recognition, and financial analysis to support profitable growth.
- Support integration efforts for new business units, acquisitions, or system enhancements within the financial function.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Establish clear roles, expectations, and performance metrics.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and financial discipline.
- Serve as a collaborative, visible leader committed to cross-functional success.
Interim CFO Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; advanced credentials (MBA, CPA, CMA) strongly preferred.
- 10–15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in a production-oriented or similar operational environment.
- Demonstrated success guiding financial strategy, planning, and operations in a fast-paced, growth-focused organization.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, financial modeling, and ERP systems.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills with the ability to partner across all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to lead teams, optimize processes, and implement scalable financial systems.
- High integrity, analytical strength, and a hands-on approach to leadership.
