Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Rural Hospital Opportunity- Healthcare Experience is Required
Location: Central Nebraska (rural setting)
The Role
Our client, a critical access rural hospital, is seeking a seasoned CFO to lead the finance function during a period of stabilization and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations: budgeting, forecasting, monthly cycles, capital planning, cost reporting.
- Guide reimbursement strategy (including CMS/CAH cost-based methodologies) and payer contracting.
- Lead full revenue cycle review and optimization—patient access, documentation, collections, denials.
- Build and deliver Board-level financial reporting, forecasting, and scenario modeling.
- Manage vendor contracts, negotiate strategic agreements, and monitor performance metrics.
- Leverage AI or advanced analytics tools to enhance workflow efficiency, revenue cycle performance, and decision support.
- Collaborate across departments and lead financial operations during major change or EMR transitions in a rural hospital environment.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of CFO or VP Finance experience in a hospital, critical access or ambulatory care environment—experience in rural settings strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in CMS reimbursement and CAH cost-based methodologies.
- Proven track record in cost reporting, pro forma development, financial modeling, and service line ROI evaluation.
- Experience optimizing the full revenue cycle and driving performance improvements.
- Familiarity with project-management frameworks like Lean, Agile, Gantt or Sprints.
- Comfortable leading financial operations during EMR transitions and major organizational change.
- Outstanding communication skills and ability to present to Boards/Finance Committees and engage cross-functional leadership.

Pay: $165,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
