This Managing Director - Corporate Services, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position provides leadership and direction to the Corporate Services Division encompassing all aspects of Corporate Finance, Information Technology, Communications, Engagement and Marketing, Fleet and Facilities, and Corporate Planning and Performance. In close collaboration with the City Manager and as a member of the Administrative Committee, this position ensures the provision of effective support services to other operating divisions with the City of Medicine Hat. Moreover, this role engages directly with City Council through the Corporate Services Committee and the Audit Committee, alongside the City Manager, to implement policies supporting Council's vision, servicing as the City's Chief Financial Officer.
This position is an on-site position located in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Relocation Assistance is available for the successful candidate. Your key responsibilities

Serve as the CFO, representing the City in dealings with financial institutions, auditors, and vendors, maintaining professional relationships.

Lead the development of the City's business plans, budgets, and financial reports, ensuring alignment with City policies.

Oversee the City's Treasury and Risk Management programs, ensuring compliance with guidelines.

Act as the CFO for all City of Medicine Hat subsidiary corporations.

Certify Federal and Provincial grant applications and reports.

Collaborate with the Executive Team and City Council to align Corporate Services objectives with Council's direction.

Communicate with City Council, personnel, media, and the public on Corporate Services matters.

Present data-driven recommendations to the Corporate Services Standing Committee and ensure implementation.

Establish a clear vision for the Corporate Services Division, fostering a culture of achievement.

Lead, support, and develop divisional Directors and staff, promoting effective planning and teamwork.

Ensure corporate bylaws, policies, and systems are up-to-date and aligned with Council direction.

Qualifications

Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in business administration, management, commerce, or related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- A master's degree in business or public administration and/or an accounting designation (CPA).

Fifteen (15) years' senior level experience in a related environment.

An equivalent combination of management approved education and experience may be considered.
