Overview
The Director, Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) is responsible for designing, leading, and continuously enhancing the company’s S&OP process to ensure alignment between commercial objectives, operational capabilities, and financial targets. This role provides strategic leadership across supply planning, production scheduling, capacity planning, and inventory management—while driving technology and process transformation to support a fast-paced, highly regulated cannabis environment.
This leader will establish S&OP governance, strengthen planning discipline, build cross-functional alignment, and implement advanced planning tools to increase accuracy, transparency, and decision-making speed. The position requires a highly collaborative, analytical, and influential leader with strong communication skills and the ability to manage complex trade-offs across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and govern the end-to-end S&OP process, including cadence, stage gates, decision rights, escalations, and cross-functional accountability.
- Partner with the commercial-led Demand Planning team to challenge and integrate the demand plan into supply planning.
- Lead supply & production planning to deliver accurate, feasible short- and long-range plans.
- Translate the demand plan into capacity, labor, and production requirements while managing cannabis-specific constraints, and optimize schedules for throughput, service, and efficiency.
- Set and maintain inventory targets, policies, and safety stocks; manage adherence and balance service with working capital.
- Collaborate with commercial, finance, procurement, manufacturing, QA, and logistics to ensure seamless operational execution.
- Communicate risks, opportunities, and required trade-offs clearly to senior leadership.
- Modernize planning systems and digital workflows while driving automation, data integrity, and enhanced analytical and scenario-modelling capabilities.
- Define and track KPIs for service, inventory turns, schedule adherence, forecast integration, and planning accuracy.
- Lead root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and standardization of planning processes
- Develop and mentor Supply Planning and Scheduling leaders, building functional depth and a high-performance culture.
Qualifications / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field required.
- 8+ years supply chain experience, with a minimum of 3–5 years leading S&OP, supply planning, or production planning at a senior leadership level.
- Proven success transforming or building an S&OP process within CPG, food/beverage, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industries; cannabis experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience implementing or optimizing advanced planning systems (e.g., SAP IBP, Kinaxis, OMP, Anaplan, Blue Yonder).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing environments with complex constraints, batch scheduling, and product lifecycle management.

- Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and planning/scheduling tools; experience with ERP and APS platforms required.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technology adoption and process change initiatives.
