Visionary mobility for everyone – the MG brand has always stood for technologically sophisticated and modernly designed vehicles that offer a glimpse into the future while remaining approachable. For MG Motor, this future is electric. MG Motor has set itself the goal of making electromobility accessible to everyone who wants to lead a sustainable lifestyle. Once, MG, like almost no other brand, stood for open, two-seater sports cars. And indeed, since the 1920s, the "Morris Garages" were instrumental in defining the concept and style of this vehicle category, making it suitable for mass production and always staying one step ahead of the competition with groundbreaking developments.
Today, MG Motor is part of China's largest automobile manufacturer: SAIC Motor (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) has been producing vehicles in China since 1984, including joint ventures for Volkswagen AG and General Motors. SAIC was established in its current corporate form in 2011, but its roots extend back to the 1940s. Most recently, SAIC sold 5.3 million vehicles annually, including 2.8 million under its own brands such as MG Motor and Roewe & Maxus. This made the group the largest Chinese automaker for the 17th consecutive year in 2022. In 2018, SAIC sold over seven million vehicles.
