Overview
Kids First Inc. is seeking a strategic, experienced, and collaborative Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee and manage the organization’s financial operations. This role is responsible for leading all major financial functions, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and long-term financial planning.
The CFO works closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to ensure fiscal integrity, regulatory compliance, and financial sustainability while supporting the organization’s mission-driven programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the CEO in the preparation of annual budgets, including fund allocation, expenditure tracking, and fiscal record-keeping.
- Meet regularly with the CEO to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and effective coordination of services.
- Assist with planning, programming, budgeting, and execution of agency programs.
- Participate in the development of long-term organizational goals and objectives.
- Present monthly and annual financial statements to the Board of Directors, providing clear and accurate financial analysis.
- Ensure compliance with all governmental regulations and contractual obligations, including DCF, HIPAA, COA, and applicable federal and state requirements.
- Serve as the primary contact for fiscal-related contract inquiries and ensure adherence to contract terms and conditions.
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with fiscal policies, procedures, and general operating policies.
- Meet regularly with managers to evaluate departmental efficiencies, review procedures, and maintain an effective audit trail.
- Provide guidance and resources to program managers and staff to promote fiscal accountability and operational efficiency.
- Attend individual, group, staff, and community meetings as required to support collaboration and communication.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Accounting and/or Finance Director-level role.
- Experience working in a non-profit environment preferred.
- Knowledge of child welfare systems and state-funded contracts is a plus.

Background Screening Requirement
This position requires successful completion of Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse, in accordance with House Bill 531 (2025).
