Job Summary
The Chief Financial Officer ensures the accuracy and discipline of the company’s financial systems while providing actionable insights to drive profitability and growth. This role oversees cash flow, forecasting, compliance, risk management, and margin performance. Additionally, the CFO partners closely with the CEO and leadership team on strategic decision-making, long-term financial planning, and capital strategy to support sustainable growth and operational excellence.
This position reports to the Owner & CEO.
Key Responsibilities
• Financial Systems Integrity: Maintain complete and accurate financial statements, financial insights, and accounting systems with clean reconciliation, and minimal corrections and write offs.
• Cash Flow Control and Forecasting: Maintain rolling forecast, payroll, tax, and insurance obligations.
• Profitability Reporting: Reporting by division, service line, work type, and customer, explaining margin drivers, pushing for corrective action, and teaching business leaders.
• Pricing Strategy and Margin Protection: Define and track gross margins, supporting price increases with financial data.
• Labor Cost Management & Productivity Metrics: Empower operational leaders with financial insights and holding them accountable for results.
• Risk Management and Insurance Cost Control: Monitoring insurance costs, workers comp, and auto claim trends and their financial impact.
• Compliance, Controls, and Financial Discipline: Sales tax, payroll, bank covenant compliance, and regulatory compliance maintained following internal controls.
• Strategic Communication with CEO and Leadership Team: Regular, predictable communication cadence maintained with leadership including forward thinking insights and reporting on financial issues.
• Decision Support and Accountability Partnership: Financial impact modeling ensuring leaders understand costs of their decisions.
• Long-Term Financial Strategy and Capital Planning: Maintaining multi-year financial outlook, planning capital investments, and achieving growth.
• Customer and Client Focus: Maintain and enhance relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction through an understanding of their needs while showing empathy and understanding.
• Ethical Conduct: Uphold and promote the highest ethical standards, complying with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Employee Development: Promote a positive workplace culture, nurturing talent within the organization, providing support and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience as Chief Financial Officer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including senior-level responsibility for accounting, financial planning, and strategic analysis.
• High level of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality, with a hands-on, results-oriented leadership style.
