Retained Search for COO/CFO
Company Description
We are leading a retained search for a Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer (COO/CFO) for a mission-driven, PE-backed, multi-site behavioral health organization based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our patient-centered client is committed to providing the highest quality of care and services for individuals struggling with alcohol, SUD and co-occurring mental illness or behavioral health.
Role Description
The COO/CFO will partner closely with the CEO to lead operations, finance, revenue cycle, IT, HR and vendor management. Leading a team of 30, this individual works closely with the leadership team to drive operational excellence, financial performance and scalable growth across multiple sites, collectively serving nearly 500 patients per month through residential and out-patient continuum of care.
The role spans enterprise operations, finance, revenue cycle, IT, HR and vendor management, with significant opportunity to strengthen systems, improve processes and build financial know-how across the sites to support continued growth. This lower middle market organization has the foundation and momentum for its next phase of growth (organic and M&A).
The role is hybrid, with a preference for candidates based in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Qualifications include
- 7+ years of experience in multi-site healthcare (or adjacent industry) environment
- 3+ years of experience in operational and financial executive leadership roles
- Experience in a PE-invested environment and participating in M&A activity highly preferred
- Track record of leading successful transitions to new enterprise systems (EHR, HRIS, CRM, etc.)
- Demonstrated understanding of Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement structures and compliance requirements in behavioral health or similar sectors, including direct experience with payor negotiations and claims management.
- Experience with vendor contracting and lease management
- Demonstrated mission-alignment with a purpose driven style
