Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Real Estate Development Firm
The CFO is a key member of the leadership team and a strategic partner to the Owner, responsible for the financial leadership of a growing real estate development firm. This role oversees all accounting and finance functions, manages a team of accounting professionals, and leads relationships with banks, investors, and external audit and tax partners. The CFO combines hands-on financial oversight with forward looking business strategy, ensuring strong financial controls, project level visibility, and capital planning to support the firm’s development pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as a trusted business partner to the Owner, advising on financial strategy, deal structuring, and risk management.
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, and long-range modeling across the development pipeline.
- Evaluate new development and acquisition opportunities, including return analysis, capital stack modeling, and sensitivity scenarios.
- Provide clear, actionable financial insights to support major business decisions.
Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting operations.
- Supervise and develop the accounting team.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting at both entity and project levels.
- Maintain strong internal controls and financial processes appropriate for a growing organization.
Real Estate & Project Finance
- Monitor project budgets, cash flows, and cost-to-complete reporting.
- Partner with development and project management teams to ensure financial visibility into each project.
- Oversee draw processes, lender reporting, and compliance with loan requirements.
- Track and report on project performance versus pro forma.
Banking, Capital & External Relationships
- Lead relationships with banks, lenders, and capital partners.
- Manage financing processes, including construction loans, permanent financing, and refinancings.
- Ensure compliance with loan covenants and reporting requirements.
- Serve as primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial consultants.
Cash & Risk Management
- Oversee company-wide cash flow management and liquidity planning.
- Manage entity structures, intercompany transactions, and capital calls/distributions.
- Identify financial and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
- 8+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with leadership responsibility
- Experience in real estate development, construction, or real estate investment
- Project/job cost accounting
- Real estate financial modeling
- Experience managing lender relationships and audit processes
- Proven ability to lead and mentor an accounting team

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $180,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year
