SUMMARY:
We are building our team for growth. As a multi-entity A/E management platform company, Azurite Professional Community is seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will elevate the role from functional stewardship to active value creation. The ideal candidate will possess sophisticated acumen to optimize capital allocation and scale our financial systems in tandem with our expansion goals.
Located in our Albuquerque, NM office, the CFO serves as a key advisor to the CEO and leadership team. While the primary focus of this role is to support future growth, the CFO will establish financial frameworks and reporting standards to safeguard data integrity while maintaining a high degree of transparency. The CFO will provide platform-wide performance analysis, collaborate with leadership on expansion planning and capital investments, and strengthen financial controls to support a scalable, multi-company organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership & Value Creation
- Collaborates with the executive team to develop and implement Azurite’s overall financial strategy, supporting the corporate growth goals by providing financial analysis of M&A targets and capital investments
- Provides financial analysis and insights to support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting, proactively identifying financial risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and effectively communicates trends and recommended actions to drive measurable improvements in efficiency and profitability.
- Manages the company’s capital structure and liquidity, including negotiating credit lines with financial institutions, overseeing debt obligations, and optimizing the company’s short and long-term cash investments to balance risk and return.
- Engages with subsidiary leadership to provide financial insights and guidance to support operational discussions and decisions.
- Communicates financial results to the Board of Directors, providing financial insights and strategic recommendations to guide decision-making.
Subsidiary Alignment
- Provides leadership and oversight of the finance function across all subsidiaries, ensuring consistent application of accounting policies and compliance with regulations.
- Develops and implements accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
- Establishes and communicates clear accounting and financial process expectations for subsidiary controllers.
- Conducts regular reviews of subsidiaries to monitor monthly financial reporting, identify anomalies, and facilitate resolution.
Operational Excellence
- Prepares accurate and timely consolidated financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow) and platform-level reporting, guiding subsidiary controllers to ensure internal controls and GAAP compliance.
- Ensures compliance with tax regulations and other legal requirements related to accounting and finance, including coordinating with corporate tax consultants for tax planning, compliance, and audit support.
- Collaborates with the team to evaluate processes, leveraging technology to maximize resources and drive efficiency across finance and accounting workflows.
- Drives the timely completion of the annual financial review and audit process with external auditors, engaging the leadership team at key milestones to address critical findings and ensure alignment prior to finalization.
- Coordinates day-to-day accounting operations within Azurite, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Ensures operational liquidity through regular cash management activities, including short-term cash forecasting and the implementation of efficient cash collection and disbursement procedures.
- Oversees the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems.
Team Leadership and Development
- Develops and communicates a clear vision for the finance function.
- Leads, mentors, and develops the accounting team, fostering a culture of financial accountability and transparency.
- Conducts performance reviews of direct reports and provides feedback to the supervisor of subsidiaries' controllers.
SALARY: $160,000 - $190,000 (Salary)
TRAVEL: up to 25%
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or equivalent certification (e.g., CMA, CFA) is required.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or a related field is required.
- An MBA or an advanced degree in business is preferred with a focus on strategic management or corporate finance.
- Minimum twenty years of experience post-graduation.
- Minimum ten years of experience in staff management.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass the drug test.
- Should provide a minimum of one professional presentation/publication per year (internal or external)
- Should have active participation in a minimum of one professional society or organization
- Excellent communication and writing skills required.
