Position Summary
This position provides strategic leadership, directing company short- and long-term vision, to drive growth, profitability and culture, as well as the responsibility and oversight for the company’s financial actions.
Overseeing accounting, budgeting, forecasting and the accuracy of all financial statements. Maintaining internal controls, compliance frameworks, and managing financial risks. Monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the company’s financial liquidity as well as managing relationships with banks, brokers, auditors, landlord, and the accounting department.
This position is responsible for adhering to company policies and procedures and maintaining a positive and respectful attitude with employees and other members of management.
This position can expect to work on-site. The work schedule is 4 days a week, 32 hours a week.

Essential Job Functions:
· Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions of the organization.
· Provide strategic leadership in the continuous evaluation of short- and long-term strategic vision and objectives for the company.
· Ensure credibility of finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts. Remain informed of current financial markets and impact on retail businesses.
· Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs, strategic and regulatory action.
· Work as a member of the corporate management team providing financial and accounting support for analysis and planning of corporate activities.
· Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities.
· Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets, and reporting to the company.
· Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
· Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial reporting.
· Stay current on new federal and state tax laws impacting organizations, payroll, and individuals.
· Ensure the credibility of corporate financial information with accurate and timely reporting of corporate financial results. Responsible for the timely production of financial statements including balance sheet and income statement. Present financial results and analysis to ownership monthly.
· Negotiate the terms and conditions of loans and other financing agreements, including company leases and contracts.
· Manage property operations including lease negotiations, and tenant relationships, for company-owned property. Determine annual Triple Net lease rate with proposed maintenance project input from Facilities Manager.
· Maintain adequate and competitive business insurance including commercial liability, employment practices, D&O, and Cyber.
· Manage bank relationships and ensure adequate liquidity for corporate operations and proposed investments. Negotiate financing as needed for company operations.
· Work with CPA to complete yearend financial statement review.
· Perform regular reviews of credit card processing agreements for the retail store to ensure rates are competitive with current market conditions.
· Manage requirements for 401k audit and the filing of 5500, if required. Oversee other testing and areas of compliance for 401k plan, including annual non-discrimination testing.
· Work closely with the corporate tax accountant to ensure timely filing of corporate and shareholder tax returns.
· Provide leadership in evaluating employee benefit plans including health, dental, vision, flex plan, and 401(k) for effectiveness, affordability, and overall market comparison with benefits committee and broker.
· Oversee inventory control personnel to ensure inventory accuracy. Work with Store Manager in raising awareness of inventory loss and shrinkage causes. Implement strategies for reducing risk/loss.
Non-Essential Job Functions:
· Develop financial projections for the profitable operation of the company at regular intervals, providing guidelines for managers to follow.
· Establish objectives stated in terms of gross margin for the company and prepare monthly report for the Store Manager.
· Develop an annual operating budget.
· Manage financial resources to secure a favorable return on investment for the company.
· Work with landlord to negotiate lease.
· Maintain cash flow projection to ascertain adequate future cash with updated projections as needed.
· Approve capital equipment purchases. Oversee accounting for depreciated equipment, fixtures, leasehold improvements and property assets. Communicate expense exceptions and operational irregularities to the President and/or other members of management as identified through good accounting audit practices.
· Oversee management of all aspects of company payroll. Maintain knowledge of payroll compliance updates.
· Review monthly, quarterly and year end 401(k) reports and quarterly performance monitoring.
· Support Human Resources in developing legal employment practices, including adherence to state and federal employment laws, and required insurance coverages are provided.
· Oversee the accounting for company assets including acquisitions and disposals for reporting to Boulder County on personal property tax schedules.
· Manage checking accounts. Review and approve monthly reconciling of bank accounts.
· Oversee Fish & Game bond and license renewals.
· Oversee and approve the annual Great Colorado Payback for gift cards, store credits, uncashed payroll and vendor checks.
· Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Supervisory Responsibilities
· Directly responsible for the supervision of the Sr. Accountant, Inventory Control Department and the Payroll Administrator
· Indirectly supervises employees (e.g., accounts payable and receivable).
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
· CPA preferred
· 10 years’ experience in upper-level management
· Experience in Retail Accounting preferred
· High proficiency in financial reporting and regulatory requirements
Technical Skills, Programs or Certificates
· Must be proficient in accounting software
· Microsoft office suite proficiency required
· Intermediate Excel skills
· High level of communication skills

Travel Requirements
· Minimal travel required.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reports, company audits, compliance, and bank relationships. They will collaborate with the CEO and the executive team to make decisions regarding company's financial strategy and operations. The candidate will possess a strong background in finance and management.
