Position Summary
The CFO has direct responsibility for the accounting practices, fiscal records, and financial reporting of Bornhava. This role ensures strong internal controls, accurate and timely financial reporting, and effective budgetary oversight.
Serving as a key strategic partner to senior leadership and the Board of Directors, the CFO supports organizational sustainability, regulatory compliance, and mission-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare and manage the annual organizational budget.
- Maintain the General Ledger, including reconciliation of all accounts.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable subsidiary ledgers, ensuring accurate posting and reconciliation.
- Post monthly standard journal entries.
- Generate timely and accurate financial and management reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Interpret operating results and recommend cost-reduction or financial-improvement strategies.
- Review all monthly billing prior to posting.
- Prepare rate reconciliations as new rates are issued by SED.
Payroll & Disbursements
- Oversee all payroll activities, including pay-rate setup, payroll processing, reconciliation, and reporting through ADP.
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries.
- Process bills for payment and manage accounts payable aging and check production.
Compliance, Internal Controls & Audit
- Develop and maintain accounting policies compliant with GAAP, tax regulations, and management reporting requirements.
- Establish and enforce formal internal control policies and procedures.
- Prepare documentation and coordinate requirements for the annual external audit.
- Ensure proper accounting classification of all expenditures and supporting documentation.
- Maintain inventory control over organizational assets.
- Document and update departmental accounting procedures.
Leadership & Strategic Partnership
- Participate in Board of Directors meetings and present financial information as needed.
- Act as a strategic business partner to senior executive leadership.
- Assist with due diligence and post-acquisition integration for add-on investments.
- Research, implement, and maintain financial and operational hardware/software systems.
- Engage in day-to-day financial and operational activities that support organizational effectiveness.
- Perform additional duties as required to fulfill the mission and goals of the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- Minimum of six years of accounting and financial management experience.
- Regional public accounting firm experience preferred.
- Basic working knowledge of cost accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated positive attitude, compassion for others, and commitment to community-focused work.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $88,000.00 per year
