Position Overview
We are in a high growth mode and looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to help scale the company as we move from our Series A into a Tech-Enabled services firm. Our ideal candidate has an ownership and entrepreneurial mindset, is passionate about cybersecurity, and focused on customer outcomes. The CFO will lead all Accounting and Finance operations and strategy. This role is instrumental in supporting our trajectory while ensuring integrity of financial reporting and controls, operational excellence, and strategic decision-making. We are seeking a hands-on Accounting and Finance leader who excels at strategic planning as well as execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive financial strategies aligned with company growth and valuation objectives. Lead long-term financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, including cash flow forecasts, scenario analysis, mix/margin analysis, variance reporting, and profitability analysis to identify opportunities for margin improvement.
- Oversee all federal, state, and local tax and regulatory compliance and filings, and develop strategies to optimize the company's tax position. Manage operational financial metric reporting including pricing, revenue recognition, and project profitability.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity planning. Optimize banking relationships, treasury operations, and credit and collections processes to maintain healthy cash conversion cycles.
- Coordinate stock plan governance including 409A valuations, option grants, warrant issuances, stock-based compensation accounting, and related tax reporting (Form 3921, 83(b) elections, ISO $100K limit compliance). Manage board and shareholder actions including preparation of board materials, resolutions, and minutes. Serve as first-line evaluator and final approver for contracts, and manage legal vendor relationships.
- Entity Accounting Oversee accounting and financial reporting for affiliated partnerships and investment entities, including capital account maintenance, partner contributions, share allocations, distributions, ownership changes, K-1 reporting, and partnership ledger management.
- Oversee insurance programs (D&O, E&O, Cyber) and ensure contractual risk mitigation and adequate liability coverage.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive board materials and financial presentations, communicating performance, risks, and opportunities to the Board of Directors, CEO, and shareholders. Support fundraising activities and investor relations as needed.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for automation and operational efficiency. Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, sales operations, human resources, and delivery teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA strongly preferred; Detailed technical accounting knowledge and hands on experience required.
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior finance role
- Proven track record in a high-growth Cybersecurity, SaaS, or professional services environment
- Deep expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Strong operational finance background including invoicing, billing, and collections management
- Experience with government contracting, compliance requirements, and revenue recognition preferred
- Proficiency with financial systems and ERP platforms
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills strongly preferred
- Experience with exits/ sales transactions a strong plus but not required.
- Ability to design and implement scalable financial processes and controls
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for board and stakeholder presentations
- Collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams, strong intuitive business skills and ability to come up to speed on new business quickly
