Ascendo Resources is currently seeking a CFO for a full-time, hybrid role - overseeing a healthy and growing organization with a $100m annual operating budget.
Our client is a mission-driven community healthcare organization based in the Essex County area, just north of Boston.
This role will lead the organization’s financial strategy, planning, and operations. This executive leader will partner closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to ensure the long-term financial health and sustainability of the organization while supporting high-quality patient services.
This role oversees all finance, accounting, revenue cycle, and financial planning functions for a growing healthcare center and serves as a key advisor to executive leadership and the Board.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Executive Leadership
- Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team on long-term strategic and financial planning initiatives.
- Lead the financial components of organizational strategy and growth initiatives.
- Present financial performance and recommendations to Board of Directors and Finance Committee.
- Provide financial insight into policy development, operational planning, and capital investment decisions.
Financial Management & Operations
- Oversee all core finance functions including general accounting, financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Lead preparation and oversight of annual operating, capital, and program budgets while monitoring variances and financial performance.
- Maintain strong financial systems, internal controls, and accounting policies to ensure organizational stability.
- Oversee financial reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management to support operational decision-making.
- Coordinate audits and maintain relationships with external auditors, banks, and regulatory agencies.
Revenue Cycle & Reimbursement Oversight
- Lead patient accounting and reimbursement operations, including billing, collections, and third-party payer relationships.
- Ensure timely billing and reimbursement processes to maximize revenue capture.
- Oversee compliance with state, federal, and regulatory reporting requirements related to healthcare operations and funding.
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide leadership and oversight for finance and patient accounts teams, including hiring, development, and performance management.
- Ensure departmental policies and procedures align with broader organizational goals and compliance requirements.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, financial transparency, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, preferably in healthcare, nonprofit healthcare, or health center environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or advanced degree preferred).
- Strong background in financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Experience overseeing revenue cycle operations, patient accounts, and third-party reimbursement.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing finance teams and partnering with executive leadership.
- Experience presenting financial results to executive leadership and boards of directors.
