Ascendo Resources is currently seeking an experience CFO for a full-time, on-site role. Salary range is ideally $180,000 - $200,000 with bonus potential.
Our client is a wholesale company with over $100m in revenue. We're seeking a hands-on, strategic Chief Financial Officer to serve as a key financial leader and trusted business partner to ownership and executive management.
This role is ideal for a finance executive who can operate both strategically and tactically—someone who can assess current reporting, provide forward-looking financial insight, and oversee the full accounting and finance function.
The CFO will act as a critical layer between the day-to-day accounting team and executive leadership, ensuring accurate financial reporting while helping guide business decisions, planning, and long-term growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the company’s overall financial strategy, planning, and analysis in support of executive leadership and business goals
- Review, interpret, and assess financial reporting to provide meaningful insights and actionable recommendations
- Deliver forward-looking analysis around profitability, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and business performance
- Oversee the full accounting and finance function, maintaining strong internal controls and financial accuracy
- Partner closely with ownership/CEO on strategic planning, operational improvements, and financial decision-making
- Manage and mentor the existing accounting team, including the senior-level accounting lead and AP/AR support
- Own budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and KPI development across the business
- Ensure timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, inventory-related financial trends, and overall financial health of the organization
- Support banking relationships, external accountants, audits, tax coordination, and other financial partners
- Evaluate systems, reporting processes, and workflows to identify efficiencies and strengthen the finance infrastructure
- Serve as a 360-degree finance leader who can shift between high-level strategy and hands-on execution as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, Head of Finance, or a similar senior financial leadership role
- Prior experience within wholesale distribution, retail, consumer products, or a related industry
- Experience supporting businesses with $50M+ in annual revenue, with strong preference for experience in the $100M+ range
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and strategic finance
- Ability to analyze reporting, identify trends, and translate data into business recommendations for leadership
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to oversee a lean accounting team while remaining involved in day-to-day financial operations
- Strong business acumen and comfort partnering directly with ownership and executive leadership
- Experience building processes, improving reporting, and creating financial visibility for growing businesses
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA is a plus
