Overview
The Shore Group have been retained a £180 Million + International Construction Group to appoint a high‑calibre Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Operating across multiple jurisdictions, including North America and EMEA, the business is entering an accelerated phase of growth, diversification, and international expansion.
This appointment represents a rare opportunity for an experienced, commercially astute CFO with deep sector expertise to take full ownership of the Group’s financial strategy, performance, governance, and global financial operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a critical role in shaping the next chapter of the organisation’s evolution.
As Group CFO, you will act as the strategic and operational leader of the finance function, ensuring the Group maintains strong financial control, resilience, and liquidity while scaling at pace. You will bring credibility, expertise, and a forward‑thinking approach to international finance, commercial oversight, M&A, and treasury.
You will lead the finance team, instilling high standards, pace, accountability, and continuous improvement. With autonomy to shape the function and influence strategic direction, this is a true Group‑level CFO position—hands-on, highly commercial and central to effective decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Group Finance
- Define, refine, and execute the Group’s finance strategy aligned with ambitious global growth objectives.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board, delivering clear, insightful financial intelligence to support strategic decision‑making.
- Lead group-wide financial governance including accounting, consolidation, audit, tax, VAT, transfer pricing, and intercompany frameworks.
Commercial & Operational Finance
- Oversee commercial finance and ensure robust financial input throughout the tender lifecycle to support successful project wins.
- Drive margin improvement, cost discipline, commercial analysis, and project performance visibility.
- Ensure production of accurate, timely management information—understanding the unique nature of construction‑based financial reporting.
Global Treasury, Cash Management & Banking
- Optimise global cashflow and liquidity across multiple entities and currencies.
- Lead treasury strategy, including cash pooling, FX, international transfers, banking structures, and investment optimisation.
- Build and manage strong relationships with banks, investors, and financial institutions.
International Expansion & Governance
- Support and oversee the establishment of international offices, ensuring financial, legal, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop robust internal controls, processes, and procedures to mitigate operational and financial risks across global operations.
M&A, Growth & Corporate Development
- Lead financial due diligence and evaluation of acquisition opportunities, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
- Support integration planning, value creation, and post‑acquisition performance management.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high‑performing finance team across multiple jurisdictions.
- Build a culture of accountability, pace, and continuous improvement through strong leadership and clear expectations.
Experience & Profile
We are seeking a proven CFO who brings:
- Significant experience as CFO or FD within construction, fit-out, design & build, or project‑based contracting environments. Alternatively, candidates with demonstrable experience within an international or multi‑entity group structure will also be strongly considered.
- International finance experience - demonstrable capability in cashflow optimisation, treasury, and multi-jurisdictional banking.
- Experience leading M&A, conducting due diligence, and supporting post‑acquisition integration.
- A track record of operating in entrepreneurial, scaling, or high‑growth environments.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to partner closely with construction, delivery and commercial teams, ensuring robust project accounting, margin protection and financial discipline across all projects.
- Able to demonstrate acting as a key strategic partner to a board of directors.
