We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team on a contract basis in Capitol Heights, Maryland. In this role, you will oversee financial operations, manage a small team, and handle day-to-day accounting and budget activities. This position requires strong expertise in construction accounting and a proven ability to lead financial processes effectively.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and supervise a team responsible for billing, accounts payable, construction material orders, and invoicing.
• Prepare accurate financial statements and oversee the month-end close process.
• Conduct budget variance analysis and ensure effective project accounting.
• Reconcile accounts and maintain accurate general ledger records.
• Manage journal entries and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Analyze cash flow and provide recommendations for capital management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure financial reporting aligns with organizational goals.
• Support the team in resolving accounting discrepancies and improving processes.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of February book closures.
• Monitor and manage financial performance metrics for ongoing construction projects.
• Proven experience in real estate development or general contracting accounting and financial management.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger, and journal entries.
• Expertise in cash flow analysis and capital management.
• Ability to perform month-end close and reconcile accounts efficiently.
• Proficiency in budget variance analysis and project accounting.
• Excellent leadership skills to manage and guide a small accounting team.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines and ensure accuracy.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
