About The Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on, high-impact Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead and build the financial function of a diversified group of companies operating across sports & entertainment, real estate, construction, and related sectors.
This is not a traditional reporting role.
The CFO will act as the financial backbone of the organization, responsible for ensuring clarity, discipline, and accountability across all business units. You will work directly with the CEO as a key decision partner, helping drive capital allocation, financial strategy, and operational rigor across the group.
Important: Business unit leaders are accountable for performance and EBITDA. The CFO is accountable for financial truth, visibility, and discipline across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Accountability
- Establish and enforce financial management frameworks across all entities
- Oversee accurate, timely financial reporting, forecasting, and performance tracking
- Ensure business units operate with clear financial visibility and accountability
- Identify risks, gaps, and inefficiencies — and drive corrective action
Capital Strategy & Financing
- Lead relationships with lenders, financial institutions, and capital partners
- Structure and optimize financing arrangements, including credit facilities and project financing
- Support capital allocation decisions across business units and projects
- Maintain liquidity discipline and financial flexibility across the group
Reporting & Decision Support
- Build and maintain decision-focused financial reporting, not just compliance reporting
- Design dashboards and KPIs that provide real-time insight into performance
- Deliver clear, objective financial insights to support executive decision-making
- Ensure leadership is working from accurate, consistent financial data
Systems, Processes & Scalability
- Implement and standardize financial systems across multiple entities
- Establish strong internal controls and reporting consistency
- Drive automation and efficiency across finance and administrative functions
- Build scalable infrastructure to support growth and complexity
Operations & Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing finance team
- Elevate the capabilities of accounting and finance functions across the organization
- Instill a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
- Act as a trusted advisor to business unit leaders
Growth & Strategic Initiatives
- Lead financial analysis, modeling, and due diligence for acquisitions and investments
- Support strategic planning and long-term financial modeling
- Evaluate opportunities with a focus on return, risk, and capital efficiency
Qualifications
- CPA designation (or equivalent)
- 7+ years of progressive finance experience, including leadership roles
- Experience operating in multi-entity or group structures
- Strong background in financing, capital planning, and lender relations
- Experience in construction, real estate, or asset-intensive industries is an asset
- Proven ability to build systems, teams, and processes from the ground up
- Strong judgment, problem-solving ability, and comfort operating in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel between business locations as required; a valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation is preferred/required.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
Performance Measures
Success in this role will be evaluated based on:
- Accuracy, timeliness, and clarity of financial reporting
- Strength of financial controls and accountability frameworks
- Cash flow management and capital efficiency
- Implementation of scalable systems and processes
- Quality of financial insights supporting decision-making
- Execution of strategic initiatives and capital projects
Compensation
- Compensation will be in the range of $120,000 – $170,000, commensurate with experience
- Performance-based incentives tied to financial discipline, reporting accuracy, and strategic execution
- Potential for long-term incentive participation as the organization grows
Working Conditions
- This is an on-site position based in Sudbury
- This is a leadership role requiring flexibility and responsiveness to business needs
