Authority, Scope and Basic Function

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides leadership, oversight and support services to the US & European operations and management team on all financial matters affecting short- and long-term business objectives. Proactively participates in the planning, management, and strategic direction of Novum business entities in North America, Europe and Asia and leads the US and international financial staff. Incumbent will maintain overall responsibility for the financial operations including all monthly accounting (month-end closing process) and FP&A (financial planning and analysis) activities, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.

Essential Duties and Principal Responsibilities

• Directs, oversees, and is responsible for the activities and services of the domestic and international accounting and finance staff.

• Manage US and International financial reporting, banking, maintenance of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, while ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

• Plan, coordinate and lead monthly and quarterly financial reporting & analytics, communicating opportunities, risks and performance issues to the CEO.

• Collect timely and reliable monthly financial statements from the Finance Director - International to complete consolidated financial statements.

• Assist international accounting staff in training other departments on use of D365 and the Project Management tools within it.

• Prepare North American and European financial reporting packages for the Board of Directors.

• Reviews the monthly journal entries necessary to complete the monthly financial statements and review data to ensure the financials are complete, accurate, and timely.

• Assume the lead role in the Company annual financial audit and manage the preparation and distribution of all associated Local, State and Federal tax returns. This includes the audit and statutory return requirements of each international subsidiary, as applicable.

• Administer insurance (excluding health insurance) and bonding relationships.

• Manage and maintain relations with outside banks and CPA firms, including those of the international subsidiaries.

• Prepare and disseminate departmental budgets on an annual basis; analyze and provide variance analysis to department Directors on a monthly and quarterly basis.

• Recommend and lead the implementation of changes in financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and controls and document existing processes.

• Work with the Director of Operations - US to provide up to date financial analysis of project performance to the Director of Project Management & Field Services, Lead Project Managers and Project Managers.

• Assist Directors and managers with understanding financial statements and other financial matters.

• Prepare and distribute estimated tax distribution report and payments to owners on a quarterly basis.

• Organize and produce all necessary paperwork for biannual audit committee meetings.

• Generate quarterly sales and PM commission calculations for NUS stakeholders.

• Monitor and manage day-to-day cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operation across all Novum entities.

• Ensure timely collections of US and European receivables and alert executive management in advance of problems. Work with international execution team to collect all other outstanding project receivables, as applicable.

• Attend monthly JPR meetings with the CEO, Director of Operations - US, Director of Project Management and Field Services and Lead Project Managers and review projects for budget adherence; analyze JPR’s to assure consistency and alert senior management to any discrepancies.

• Assemble monthly global sales report and forward to senior management.

• Warrant the integrity of the payroll and benefit functions.

• Ensure Novum’s State contractor’s licenses are kept up to date and current & obtain new licenses as needed.

• Work in concert with Contract Administrator to maintain and review Novum’s various business insurances and bonding line/usage.

• Assist senior management with research, special projects and financial reporting and analysis as needed.

Qualifications / Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent education) and MBA and/or CPA preferred.

•Minimum of 8 years of relevant accounting management experience; public accounting experience preferred.

•Ability to do limited international travel and communicate well with staff in other countries via various technologies.

•Proficiency and working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook. Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus.

•Solid technology, organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail

•Strong written and oral communication skills; must be able to interact with all levels of Novum
