About the role
The Legal Operations Manager owns the day-to-day operational engine behind RightCapital's contracting work. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role: you won't manage people, but you will own processes end-to-end — from how a contract request comes in, to how it's reviewed, negotiated, signed, stored, tracked, and operationalized post-signature.
You'll partner closely with Sales, Revenue Operations, Billing & Finance, Customer Experience, Compliance, and counsel. You'll also be our point person for evaluating and operationalizing modern legal tooling, including AI-assisted contract review, as we mature our function. Strategic decisions on tooling, vendors, and direction are made in partnership with the VP of Operations; you bring the research, recommendations, pilots, and execution.
What you'll do:
- Contract lifecycle ownership
- Own the end-to-end contract lifecycle for customer, vendor, and partner agreements — intake, triage, review, redlining, approval, signature, storage, and post-signature obligations tracking.
- Maintain and continuously improve our library of templates, clause libraries, playbooks, and fallback positions for MSAs, order forms, NDAs, DPAs, vendor SaaS agreements, and partnership agreements.
- Triage incoming contract requests, apply playbooks, and escalate non-standard issues to counsel or leadership with a clear recommendation.
- Track key dates and obligations (renewals, auto-renewals, notice periods, terminations, price escalators) and proactively surface them to the right business owners.
Cross-functional partnership
- Sales & Revenue Operations — Serve as the embedded deal-desk lead for order forms, non-standard terms, and quote-to-cash workflows; define contracts requirements and approval-routing logic that inform Salesforce and related deal-desk tooling.
- Billing & Finance — Advise on revenue-impacting terms (payment, auto-renewal, true-ups, termination for convenience) and ensure executed contracts flow cleanly into invoicing and revenue recognition.
- Customer Experience — Manage amendments, assignments, renewals, and trust/security questionnaire responses, ensuring commitments made at signing are operationalized post-sale.
- Compliance & Security — Coordinate on DPAs, security exhibits, vendor due diligence, and regulatory updates that need to be reflected in our templates and workflows.
Process design & legal tech
- Design, document, and continuously refine contracting workflows, intake/triage processes, and self-service paths (e.g., click-through NDAs, standard-paper order forms) to reduce cycle time and bottlenecks.
- Research and recommend AI-assisted contract review and redlining tools (e.g., Ironclad AI); pilot approved solutions and, once adopted, operationalize them by establishing guardrails, prompt/playbook libraries, and human-in-the-loop review standards.
- Evaluate and recommend other legal tech investments (CLM, e-signature, intake/ticketing); lead implementation, change management, and end-user training once direction is set.
- Maintain a single source of truth for executed contracts, ensuring metadata, naming conventions, and access permissions are consistent and auditable.
AI contracting standards
- Own the contract language for anything AI-related — both inbound (vendor agreements for AI tools we use) and outbound (customer-facing language about how we use AI). Negotiate protections around training data, IP indemnities, output ownership, and data-use restrictions; partner with Compliance to stay aligned with RightCapital's broader AI governance program.
Reporting & continuous improvement
- Build and maintain dashboards and recurring reports on contract pipeline, cycle times, standard vs. non-standard positions, exception rates, and renewal forecasts.
- Use data to identify recurring redline patterns, bottlenecks, and risk hotspots — and translate those insights into playbook, template, or process updates.
- Define and track KPIs for the contracting function (e.g., time-to-sign, % of deals on standard paper, queue time, self-service adoption).
What you'll bring
Required
- 4+ years of experience in legal operations, contract management, deal desk, or a closely related function — ideally in a B2B SaaS or technology environment.
- Strong working knowledge of commercial SaaS contracting concepts: MSAs, order forms, SLAs, DPAs, auto-renewals, true-ups, indemnities, limitations of liability, and termination rights.
- Demonstrated track record of designing and rolling out workflows, playbooks, or self-service tools that improved speed and consistency.
- Hands-on comfort with Slack, Salesforce and e-signature tools (e.g., DocuSign, Adobe Sign)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate legal concepts into plain English for business teams.
- Strong project management and stakeholder skills; able to keep multiple workstreams moving without dropping balls.
Nice to have
- Experience administering a CLM platform, esp. Ironclad.
- Exposure to AI-assisted contract review tooling and thoughtful perspectives on guardrails and human-in-the-loop design.
- Familiarity with U.S. financial services / RIA / wealth-tech regulatory landscape (SEC, FINRA, state securities regulators).
- Background in or close partnership with Sales, Customer Experience, Compliance, Revenue Operations, or Finance.
- Ability to translate business needs into clear requirements for technical owners.
- Familiarity with privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2) as they show up in commercial contracts.
What success looks like in year one
- A documented, repeatable contracting workflow with clear SLAs, owners, and escalation paths.
- A refreshed library of templates, playbooks, and fallback positions that materially reduce non-standard redlines.
- A piloted (and, if approved, adopted) AI-assisted contract review capability with documented guardrails.
- A reliable monthly reporting cadence on cycle times, renewals, and exceptions that leadership uses to make decisions.
- Clear, trusted partnerships with Sales, RevOps, Billing, CE, and Compliance — you're the person they call first.
