CONFIDENTIAL CFO OPPORTUNITY
Private Equity-Backed Consumer Products Platform
Location: South Florida
Conexus is partnering with a private equity-backed, middle-market consumer products platform to identify a Chief Financial Officer who can serve as a strategic operating partner to the CEO and Board while leading a meaningful finance transformation.
This is a compelling opportunity for a commercially oriented CFO to help professionalize and scale the finance function of a branded, product-based business with strong market presence, multi-channel distribution, and significant value-creation opportunity.
The company operates across the U.S. and Canada, with a portfolio of owned and licensed brands serving consumers, retail partners, distributors, and professional end-users. The business is entering its next chapter of growth and requires a CFO who can bring structure, pace, discipline, and forward-looking financial leadership to the organization.
The Opportunity
The CFO will be expected to move the organization from a more traditional, reporting-oriented finance environment to a modern, business-partnering function that helps shape decisions, manage performance, and support a multi-year earnings growth agenda.
This is not a caretaker CFO role. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, high-accountability finance leader who can challenge assumptions, translate data into action, build operating cadence, and partner credibly with a direct, fast-moving CEO, private equity sponsor, and Board.
Key Priorities
The CFO will be responsible for:
- Building a forward-looking finance organization that moves beyond reporting the numbers to actively managing and influencing them
- Installing a disciplined monthly business review cadence with clear metrics, accountability, and actionable insights
- Partnering with the CEO and leadership team on the value-creation plan
- Embedding finance more deeply across commercial, product, supply chain, operations, HR, and enabling functions
- Strengthening collaboration between accounting and FP&A
- Mentoring, developing, and retaining strong existing finance talent
- Preparing the organization for eventual transaction readiness, including diligence support, sponsor-grade reporting, and a data-backed performance narrative
Scope of Responsibility
The CFO will lead all finance, accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, reporting, controls, planning, and performance management activities.
Key areas of focus will include:
- Annual planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning
- Cash forecasting and working capital management
- Board, sponsor, lender, and executive reporting
- KPI development and dashboarding across revenue, margin, channel, customer, product, inventory, supply chain, and SG&A
- Commercial finance support for pricing, margin improvement, portfolio optimization, and growth initiatives
- Monthly close, audit, compliance, lender reporting, and external advisor management
- Financial controls, systems, process improvement, and data discipline
- M&A, add-on evaluation, integration, and eventual sale-process readiness as appropriate
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Proven CFO or senior finance leadership experience in a private equity-backed, sponsor-owned, or similarly performance-driven middle-market environment
- Experience in consumer products, branded goods, consumer durables, accessories, lifestyle products, retail/wholesale, or another product-based business model
- Relevant scale experience, ideally within a $200M–$500M+ revenue environment
- Strong FP&A, forecasting, KPI development, business partnering, and operating finance capabilities
- A solid accounting foundation and controls orientation, balanced with commercial and strategic judgment
- Experience building, coaching, and upgrading finance teams
- Exposure to Boards, lenders, private equity sponsors, diligence, exit preparation, and value creation planning
- The ability to operate with urgency, discretion, and resilience in a confidential, high-change environment
Current or prior CFO experience is strongly preferred. A step-up candidate may be considered only with exceptional readiness, relevant transformation exposure, and a strong fit with the operating environment.
Preferred Background
Ideal candidates will have experience with one or more of the following:
- South Florida-based companies or a low-risk relocation profile into the Boca Raton area
- U.S. and Canada operations
- Product, inventory, channel, and supply chain complexity
- Licensed or owned brands
- ERP, planning, reporting, or finance-systems improvement
- M&A, integration, add-on acquisitions, or transaction processes
- CPA and/or MBA preferred, though leadership impact and operating fit are most important
Leadership Style
This role requires a high-energy, direct, confident finance leader who can operate as both a strategic partner and hands-on builder. The right CFO will have the confidence to challenge the CEO and leadership team when the data supports a different answer, while also earning trust through collaboration, transparency, and execution.
The ideal candidate will bring a player-coach mindset, low ego, strong commercial curiosity, and the ability to turn complexity into clear business decisions.
Geography
- Primary target geography is South Florida, including Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami. Select relocation candidates will be considered, particularly those with existing Florida ties or clear motivation to relocate.
