About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a rapidly growing private equity-backed residential services platform positioned for transformational growth through strategic acquisitions and operational scale. The company has established a strong foundation at approximately $60M in revenue and is executing an aggressive growth strategy with the goal of scaling beyond $150M+ through a combination of M&A, integration, and organic expansion.
The private equity sponsor is highly experienced in scaling founder-led and lower-middle-market businesses into institutional-quality platforms. The incoming CFO will play a critical role in helping architect that transformation while serving as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO, Board, and investors.
This is a highly visible opportunity for a hands-on, commercially minded finance leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and understands the unique demands of scaling a PE-backed residential services organization.
Position Overview
The CFO will serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team, responsible for leading all financial functions of the organization while helping drive enterprise-wide growth, operational scalability, and value creation.
This executive will help shape the company’s growth strategy, support acquisition activity and integration execution, build scalable financial infrastructure, and provide data-driven insights that improve decision-making across the business.
The ideal candidate has prior experience within the residential services industry and has successfully operated in a private equity-backed environment where growth has been fueled by acquisitions, integration, and operational transformation.
This role requires a leader who can operate strategically in the boardroom while also remaining close to the business operationally.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership & Leadership
- Serve as the primary strategic and financial advisor to the CEO, providing insight on growth strategy, capital allocation, operational performance, and value creation initiatives.
- Partner closely with the Board and private equity sponsor on strategic planning, financial performance, and long-term scaling initiatives.
- Help build a data-driven organization with strong accountability, KPI visibility, and operational discipline.
Financial Leadership & Infrastructure
- Lead all core finance functions including FP&A, accounting, treasury, cash management, reporting, tax, audit, and financial controls.
- Build scalable financial systems, processes, and reporting infrastructure capable of supporting rapid multi-site growth.
- Improve forecasting accuracy, operational reporting, and decision-support analytics across the organization.
- Drive working capital optimization and cash flow management initiatives.
M&A & Integration
- Support acquisition strategy through financial diligence, modeling, integration planning, and synergy tracking.
- Lead financial integration efforts across acquired businesses, including systems, reporting, controls, and KPI standardization.
- Develop scalable acquisition onboarding and integration playbooks to support continued platform expansion.
- Partner with operations leadership to ensure acquisitions achieve expected financial and operational outcomes.
Operational Finance & Performance Improvement
- Partner with operational leaders to improve margin performance, pricing discipline, labor productivity, fleet utilization, and branch-level profitability.
- Drive KPI accountability throughout the organization using actionable financial and operational metrics.
- Support initiatives focused on improving customer retention, service efficiency, and scalability.
Team Building & Organizational Development
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing finance and accounting organization capable of supporting significant scale.
- Build credibility and partnership across field operations, branch leadership, and corporate functions.
- Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Candidate Profile
Required Experience
- Proven finance leadership experience within the residential services industry, including sectors such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, restoration, pest control, landscaping, or other route-based / field services businesses.
- Prior experience operating within a private equity-backed company environment.
- Demonstrated success helping scale businesses through acquisition-driven growth and integration.
- Strong strategic finance background combined with operational business partnership capabilities.
- Experience building scalable reporting, FP&A, and financial infrastructure within high-growth organizations.
- Ability to operate effectively in entrepreneurial and evolving environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior CFO experience within a PE-backed lower-middle-market or middle-market business.
- Experience supporting a successful exit, recapitalization, or secondary transaction.
- Background leading multi-location or geographically distributed businesses.
- Experience integrating multiple acquisitions within compressed timelines.
- CPA and/or investment banking, transaction advisory, or M&A finance experience is a plus.
