The Role
The Chief Financial Officer will serve as a strategic and operational partner to the CEO and executive team, leading all aspects of finance across a complex, vertically integrated business. This includes oversight of financial planning & analysis, accounting, capital strategy, and operational finance across manufacturing, construction/design operations, and property-level performance.
This leader will be instrumental in scaling the company from its current revenue base to the next phase of growth, while ensuring strong cash flow management, capital efficiency, and financial discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute short- and long-term financial strategies aligned with company growth objectives
- Lead enterprise FP&A, forecasting, and scenario modeling in a high-growth environment
- Oversee cash flow, working capital, and debt structures while maintaining strong internal controls
- Partner with executive leadership on capital strategy, including debt financing and equity raises
- Provide actionable financial insights to support decision-making, profitability, and capital allocation
Operational Finance & Business Performance
- Oversee financial performance across a project-based revenue model, including large-scale design-build projects
- Forecast and track profitability across multiple business lines and contracts
- Partner with operational leaders to ensure alignment on budgets, costs, and timelines
- Support vendor and lender negotiations to optimize financial outcomes
Risk Management & Infrastructure
- Oversee insurance programs across multiple lines (e.g., GL, E&O, workers comp, etc.)
- Lead bonding strategy and execution in partnership with brokers and lenders
- Ensure compliance, governance, and risk mitigation across the organization
Reporting, Systems & Controls
- Lead company-wide budgeting processes and deliver accurate financial reporting and variance analysis
- Establish KPIs that directly link operational performance to financial outcomes
- Drive continued adoption and optimization of ERP and business intelligence systems
Growth & Strategic Initiatives
- Support M&A activity from evaluation through integration
- Drive initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, supply chain strength, and scalability
- Secure and optimize capital sources to support ongoing growth
- Serve as a key external representative of the company within the industry
Team Leadership
- Build, develop, and lead a high-performing finance and accounting organization
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Develop future leaders and support long-term succession planning
- Position finance as a true business partner across the organization
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CFO or senior finance leader within a complex, operationally driven environment (e.g., construction, real estate development, manufacturing)
- Strong expertise in operational finance, cash flow management, and asset-based lending
- Experience raising both debt and equity at the company level
- Track record of supporting organizations through significant growth and scaling phases
- Deep experience with budgeting, forecasting, and KPI-driven performance management
- Hands-on, strategic leader with strong communication and executive presence
Education & Credentials
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required
- MBA preferred
- CPA and/or CFA strongly preferred
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $275,000 - $350,000 (dependent on experience)
