Privatal is currently exclusively retained to search for a new permanent Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Consumer Goods & Services, Retail, and E-commerce with HQ in Northwest England.

The business has established a strong market position with a significant omnichannel presence across physical retail, e-commerce, and wholesale channels. With a newly appointed CEO, further investments in the leadership team, and clear international growth ambitions, the company is entering an exciting new phase of value creation.
The CFO Profile
- Proven experience as Group CFO or CFO within a private equity-backed portfolio company.
- Proven experience and track record operating in consumer, retail, e-commerce, omnichannel, or multi-site business models.
- Deep understanding of retail and e-commerce KPIs, including conversion, customer metrics, profitability drivers, and performance management.
- Demonstrated ability to use finance and business intelligence as a tool for value creation and strategic decision-making.
- Experience operating in businesses with revenues between £100m and £1bn.
- Strong understanding of LBO environments, investor reporting, debt management, and lender communication and working closely with private equity investors, boards, and executive leadership teams.
- Proven ability to build credibility through a hands-on and operational leadership style rather than purely corporate finance expertise.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence business performance beyond traditional finance responsibilities.
- Experience leading and developing functions including finance, controlling, business intelligence, IT, tax, legal, and shared services.
- Ability to challenge constructively, communicate transparently, and act as a trusted partner to the CEO and Board.
- Experience supporting strategic growth initiatives, operational improvements, and exit preparation activities.
The role is based in the Northwest area and will involve regular interaction with teams across UK and selected European locations.
