About the Job
We’re hiring a CFO for our rapidly-growing bioengineering company as we move closer to the next phase of our evolution. Reporting to the CEO & Co-founder, this person will work on all facets of financial management, including cash management, financial planning & analysis, budgeting, and strategic planning.
In this role, you’ll work closely with the CEO and the executive leadership team to expand the foundation of the finance and accounting function at Ossium and set the company up for successful continued growth and scale. You’ll ensure that decisions are made with clear financial data to enable sustainable growth.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years experience as a senior financial executive (VP/C-level) in a public company
- Hands-on knowledge of public market offerings
- Advanced ability to develop financial strategy, including projections, modeling, and profitability analysis across business lines
- Dynamic executive presence and excellent presentation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with senior and C-level partners and investors
- Proven success in taking a business through scale and building out finance programs to support that growth
- Experience working with external auditors (including a PCAOB audit), compliance, and regulatory oversight
- Outstanding project management skills; track record of guiding internal and external stakeholders through complex financial transactions
- Exceptional Excel skills
- This position is based in our San Francisco office; we maintain a hybrid schedule of Monday - Thursday in the office, with Friday as a remote work day
- Capability to operate with a high level of organization and excellent time management in a fast-paced startup environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading finance team through an IPO, including:
- Close cycle compression and SEC filings (10K, 10Q) cadence
- SOX readiness, gap assessment, and key controls implementation
- Fluency with financial reporting software
- Management consulting experience
- Private company/startup experience
- MBA
Key Responsibilities
- Directing and overseeing the financial operations of the company: financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, cash flow analysis, company audits, compliance and controls, treasury, banking relationships, accounting operations and disclosures
- Develop comprehensive financial reports, dashboards, and analytics for our management team; prepare and present quarterly and annual financial statements, investor updates, and board materials
- Controlling and evaluating the organization’s corporate finance strategy and capital structure to use equity and leverage effectively to fund growth objectives
- Leading Ossium through audits, including managing external resources
- Partnering with the People team to map out department structure, create job descriptions, and interview for key finance and accounting positions
- Reviewing budget and expenses; making recommendations to minimize costs and increase ROI
- Partnering closely with the CEO to lay the foundation for a successful transition to a public company
This position has a salary range of $301,540 - $393,690 annually. Ossium Health takes a market-based approach to pay. The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. This range may be modified in the future.
