Our client is a growing, owner-led industrial distribution company operating in a high-volume, fast-moving environment with strong revenue and demand. At a $100M, the business has outgrown its current financial infrastructure and they are seeking a CFO to join the team as the senior finance executive and strategic partner to the President. The CFO will step into an environment with real momentum and real complexity.
This role is responsible for leading financial strategy, ensuring strong financial performance, and building the financial infrastructure required to support intentional, scalable growth. They will arrive to a strong foundation and a clear direction, and they will construct the financial systems, discipline, and leadership capacity to match the company's ambition.
The successful candidate will bring financial rigor and forward-looking insight, while operating as a genuine cross-functional partner to Operations, Sales, and Supply Chain leaders. They will translate complexity into clarity for non-financial stakeholders, and they will thrive in a culture that values integrity, urgency with purpose, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Financial strategy: including capital allocation, profitability improvement, investment planning, and scalable growth initiatives.
- FP&A: partner across the business to optimize margins, pricing, operations, inventory, and working capital to drive profitable growth and informed decision-making.
- Finance & Accounting: oversee reporting, compliance, internal controls, cash flow and capital management, credit and risk functions, and external financial partnerships to ensure strong governance and liquidity.
- Process Improvement: develop scalable financial systems, processes, and organizational capabilities by leading ERP optimization, automation, infrastructure improvements, and team development to support the company’s continued growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.
- MBA, Master's degree in a related field, and/or CPA designation strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting.
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role (Controller, VP of Finance, or CFO).
- Significant experience in distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain-intensive environments (retail, e-commerce) strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience building or significantly maturing a finance function — not just managing a stable one.
- Prior experience in a privately held, family-owned, or founder-led business preferred.
- Demonstrated success in FP&A and strategic leadership.
