Penfield Children’s Center is at a pivotal moment. After nearly 60 years of mission-driven service to Milwaukee’s children and families, Penfield is pursuing an ambitious growth agenda — expanding program reach, deepening community impact, and diversifying revenue. The Chief Financial Officer will be the CEO’s primary strategic partner in making that growth a reality.
Our Mission:
Ensuring children have positive early experiences from pregnancy through age 5 when the foundations for lifelong development are established.
Founded in 1967 Penfield serves more than 1,800 children annually through high-quality, integrated early education, health services, and family programming. We operate with a budget of approximately $13 million and a staff of 120 employees.
This is an executive-level role with direct access to the CEO and Board. The CFO provides oversight of financial management, budgeting, reporting, audit, and billing operations, and serves as primary manager of Penfield’s outsourced accounting and finance relationship. Direct reports include a Revenue Cycle Manager and Staff Accountant. The position is based in Milwaukee and supports a hybrid work schedule.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; CPA preferred
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience; nonprofit background required
- Demonstrated experience with nonprofit GAAP, federal grant compliance, and fund accounting
- Strong communication skills; comfortable presenting to boards and executive leadership
- Experience with Sage Intacct or comparable accounting system preferred
Compensation:
$137,138 – $205,708, commensurate with experience
