B and D Integrated Health Services (BDIHS) is a mission-driven nonprofit healthcare organization dedicated to expanding access to high-quality, integrated care for underserved communities. As we grow toward Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Look-Alike status, we are seeking an experienced Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership during this critical stage.
Position Overview
The Fractional CFO will serve as a senior financial strategist and trusted advisor to executive leadership and the Board of Directors. This role will focus on strengthening financial systems, ensuring compliance, and guiding long-term sustainability in a complex healthcare and regulatory environment.
This is a part-time, contract executive role ideal for a seasoned financial leader with deep experience in nonprofit healthcare—particularly FQHCs or similar organizations.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Financial Leadership
- Advise leadership and the Board on financial strategy and sustainability
- Develop multi-year financial forecasts and strategic plans
- Establish KPIs, financial dashboards, and performance metrics
- Support organizational growth, partnerships, and new service lines
Financial Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit, state, and federal financial regulations
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Strengthen internal controls and accounting processes
- Evaluate and improve financial systems and workflows
Medicare Cost Reporting
- Implement accounting practices for Medicare cost reporting compliance
- Coordinate preparation and submission of cost reports
- Collaborate with external accounting/consulting partners
- Support initial and partial-year reporting requirements
HRSA & Grant Management
- Ensure compliance with HRSA financial standards
- Support grant budgeting, tracking, and reporting
- Develop systems for restricted funds and grant expenditure tracking
- Assist with Uniform Guidance and federal compliance
Board & Executive Support
- Present financial data to leadership and Board of Directors
- Translate complex financial insights into actionable recommendations
- Participate in governance and strategic planning
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- 3–5+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
- Experience as CFO, Controller, Finance Director, or similar role
- Strong background in nonprofit financial management
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and internal controls
Preferred Qualifications (Strongly Preferred)
Candidates with experience in the following will be highly prioritized:
- Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) or FQHC Look-Alikes
- Community Health Centers or HRSA-funded organizations
- Medicare cost reporting and reimbursement
- HRSA grants and federal compliance
Additional preferred credentials:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- MBA, Master of Accounting, or related graduate degree
- Experience working with nonprofit Boards and Finance Committees
- Healthcare accounting system implementation/optimization
Engagement Details
- Schedule: Approximately 10–25 hours per week (flexible)
- Structure: Fractional executive / contract engagement
- Compensation: Competitive, based on experience and expertise
Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
