Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key executive leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering MC’s financial sustainability. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO plays a crucial role in identifying and driving business improvement opportunities, collaborating closely with the COO to implement transformative changes that enhance operational efficiency, service delivery, and long-term financial growth.
As a strategic partner to the CEO and Board, the CFO will lead all financial, risk management, and technology functions to ensure strong governance, future-focused financial planning, and digital innovation that supports the organisation’s strategic objectives. The CFO will oversee a small finance team, providing leadership and mentorship to ensure high performance and alignment with MC’s goals.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Growth
- Develop and execute a long-term financial strategy to ensure MC’s sustainability and growth.
- Lead financial planning, analysis, and forecasting to assist Board-level decision-making.
- Implement measures for resource optimization, cost control, and revenue generation.
- Drive investment strategies to support innovation and digital transformation.
- Provide financial reporting and risk analysis to the CEO and Board, ensuring compliance.
- Monitor budgets and present financial statements to executives and the Board.
- Simplify complex financial data for stakeholders and maintain financial controls.
Digital Transformation & IT Leadership
- Oversee a digital transformation strategy to modernize operations and enhance decision-making.
- Implement advanced IT systems and cybersecurity frameworks to drive efficiency.
- Ensure integration of technology across financial and operational functions.
- Manage IT risk and compliance, safeguarding organizational integrity.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Establish strong financial controls and risk management frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across financial and IT functions.
- Lead audits and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies.
Business Transformation & Process Optimization
- Drive financial process improvements for operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with the COO on initiatives to enhance service quality and efficiency.
- Implement change management strategies for new financial systems.
- Develop data analytics frameworks for informed strategic decision-making.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide strategic leadership to finance and IT teams, aligning with organizational objectives.
- Mentor teams to foster accountability and collaboration.
- Promote financial literacy and digital adoption across departments.
- Implement workforce planning and talent development strategies.
External Relations & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build relationships with funding bodies and technology partners to enhance sustainability.
- Represent MC in high-level forums for governance and innovation advocacy.
- Offer insights on funding models and emerging technology trends impacting operations.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Proven executive leadership experience in financial strategy, risk management, and digital transformation.
- Extensive experience overseeing financial operations, IT governance, and business process improvements within a complex service delivery environment (ideally 10+ years).
- Strong track record of implementing financial sustainability initiatives, investment strategies, and revenue growth models.
- Expertise in IT strategy, BI, cybersecurity, and digital transformation, with a focus on operational efficiency and innovation.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a data-driven approach to strategic planning.
- Advanced people leadership skills, with experience building and developing high-performing finance and IT teams.
- Outstanding stakeholder management abilities, with experience engaging with government bodies, financial institutions, and technology partners.
- Superior communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial information in plain English to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of compliance, audit, and risk frameworks within regulated environments.
- Current driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- CA/CPA Qualified.
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualifications in Finance, Business, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Previous experience leading financial and digital transformation initiatives within the health, aged care, disability, or not-for-profit sector.
- Knowledge of funding structures, compliance, and financial sustainability models within community service organisations.
- Experience implementing AI, automation, and data analytics tools to enhance service delivery and organisational efficiency.
