Syncopated Synergy is looking to add a Fractional/Interim CFO to our team. This is a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves role to provide senior financial leadership for a client during a defined transition. You will embed with the organization, provide full ownership of financial strategy and operations, stabilize the finance function, and prepare the organization for the next permanent leader. You will have the opportunity to work with clients across a variety of industries and company sizes.

Primary Responsibilities
- Lead financial strategy, planning, and reporting for the organization
- Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and treasury management
- KPI Development and Evaluation
- Financial modeling (FP&A) development or optimization
- Provide insight and guidance to executive leadership and board members
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards
- Lead key projects such as system implementations, process improvements, audits, or M&A activities
- Assistance with Debt acquisition
- Contract management a finance lens
- Oversight of internal accounting staff
- Pricing evaluation
- Cap Table Management
- Perform risk management by analyzing the organization’s liabilities and investments
- Decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks
- Control and evaluate the organization’s fundraising plans and capital structure
- Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations
- Manage vendor relationships
- Document processes and prepare for smooth hand-off to permanent finance leadership
Competencies & Qualities
- Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Senior finance leadership experience with ability to influence executive decisions
- Excellent communication skills for C-level and board reporting
- Hands-on and “roll-up-your-sleeves” capable, able to execute as well as advise
- Tech-savvy, proficient with finance and accounting software
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting (required); CPA or MBA preferred
- 8–15+ years in senior finance leadership roles (CFO or equivalent)
- Prior interim or transitional leadership experience preferred
- Colorado residents will be considered first
Engagement Details
- Contract (1099) or W2 Hourly status; near full-time commitment expected for interim
- Assignment typically 3–9 months
Compensation based on experience and engagement type, average rates between $135-$165/hr.
