Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as the senior financial leader of the organization, responsible for financial oversight, strategic planning, risk management, and the establishment of internal controls appropriate for a $15 million business. The CFO provides executive-level financial guidance while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of the company’s financial operations.
This role balances day-to-day financial management with the implementation of checks and balances that protect company assets, support profitable growth, and provide ownership with timely and accurate financial information for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
- Develop and oversee annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
- Provide monthly financial reporting and analysis to ownership and leadership.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Provide financial modeling and support for major business decisions.
Financial Controls & Governance
- Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls and segregation of duties.
- Ensure proper authorization processes for expenditures, contracts, and capital investments.
- Review and monitor financial policies and procedures.
- Conduct periodic reviews of financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all financial reporting requirements and tax obligations.
Accounting Oversight
- Perform accounting duties
- Review monthly financial statements for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform duties related accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end closings.
- Coordinate annual tax preparation and external audits or reviews.
Cash Management
- Monitor daily cash position and cash flow projections.
- Review banking relationships and financing arrangements.
- Oversee borrowing activities and debt compliance.
- Develop strategies to improve cash conversion cycles and reduce working capital requirements.
Operational & Strategic Support
- Partner with executive leadership to support growth initiatives.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial dashboards.
- Evaluate capital expenditures and major investments.
- Support acquisitions, expansions, and strategic projects as required.
- Participate in leadership meetings and provide financial insight into operational decisions.
Internal Control Responsibilities
The CFO will establish and monitor controls including:
- Separation of purchasing, receiving, and payment approval functions.
- Review of all significant disbursements.
- Monthly bank reconciliations.
- Inventory control audits and cycle count reviews.
- Financial statement review and variance analysis.
- Payroll review and approval procedures.
- Capital expenditure approval process.
- Credit and collections oversight.
- Fraud prevention and detection measures.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
