Boston offers a unique mix of historic charm and modern amenities - home to world-class universities, sports teams, cultural institutions, coastal beauty, and one of the country’s oldest fire and police departments. This role offers the right candidate the opportunity to build their career in one of the country’s most notable and vibrant cities while serving an organization dedicated to those who protect and serve our communities every day.
Do You Find Purpose Beyond Numbers?
Reporting directly to the President/CEO, the Chief Financial Officer is a key member of the executive leadership team and a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors. The CFO provides strategic leadership for accounting, treasury, financial reporting, business intelligence, capital planning, liquidity management, investments, and asset/liability management while ensuring the organization's long-term financial strength.
This role extends beyond financial oversight. The CFO will help shape the credit union's future by aligning financial strategy with organizational priorities, supporting digital transformation, strengthening data-driven decision-making, and balancing growth, risk, and member value. The successful candidate will translate complex financial information into meaningful business insights that support sound strategic decisions across the organization.
At First Responders Credit Union, financial leadership isn't measured solely by capital ratios, earnings, or balance sheet performance. It's measured by the organization's ability to remain a trusted financial partner for the firefighters, law enforcement, EMS, and families who depend on us.
The Chief Financial Officer will ensure every financial strategy supports that mission - balancing growth, innovation, and prudent risk management while strengthening the organization's ability to serve first responders across Massachusetts.
Can We Grow Together?
The ideal candidate is a strategic, collaborative financial executive with 10+ years of progressive leadership experience across accounting, treasury, budgeting, financial reporting, capital planning, and enterprise financial management. Financial institution experience is required, with direct credit union experience preferred. A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required; an MBA, CPA, CFA, or other advanced professional designation is preferred. Beyond technical expertise, this leader will bring sound business judgment, acts with authentic altruism, a commitment to developing people, and the ability to build trusted relationships across the organization.
As First Responders Credit Union continues to expand its reach and invest in its future, the CFO will play a pivotal role in shaping strategy, strengthening financial performance, and supporting long-term growth. This is an opportunity to broaden your influence beyond finance, serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board, and help guide the credit union's next chapter while making a meaningful difference for the first responders and families it proudly serves.
The salary range for this position is $225,000–$265,000 annually, with a target starting salary of $235,000.
