About Our Client
Our client is a premier, family-owned and operated steel fabrication and industrial manufacturing leader based in Houston. With a legacy built on quality workmanship, robust customer relationships, and operational integrity, the company has scaled to multiple manufacturing facilities and nearly 300 employees. As they enter their next phase of strategic growth, they are seeking a transformational CFO to modernize their financial
organization while preserving the entrepreneurial culture that drove their foundational success.
Position Summary
This is not a traditional CFO role focused only on financial reporting. The CFO will provide strategic financial leadership, oversee all accounting operations, build and develop the accounting team, strengthen financial controls, improve reporting, improve culture, and partner directly with executive leadership. A major responsibility will be leading the company's transition from QuickBooks and paper-based processes to a fully integrated ERP system in the next few years.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic & Financial Leadership
Lead all accounting and finance operations. Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow.
Develop KPIs. Maintain banking relationships and internal controls.
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team. Build a culture of accountability, professionalism, training, and continuous improvement.
Lead ERP evaluation, selection, implementation, training, and adoption. Oversee inventory accounting, standard costing, job costing, and work-in-process accounting.
Partner with operations to improve efficiency and profitability. Advise executive leadership on strategic planning, capital investments, and long-term growth.
Required Experience
Active CPA license. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
10+ years of progressive finance leadership. 5+ years leading accounting teams in manufacturing.
Strong manufacturing accounting, inventory, standard costing, job costing, and WIP experience. Proven ERP implementation leadership.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational change management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA preferred. Steel fabrication or industrial manufacturing experience.
Experience transitioning organizations from QuickBooks or legacy systems to a modern ERP. Experience supporting privately held or family-owned businesses.
The Leader We're Looking For
We are looking for a builder, not simply a maintainer. The successful candidate enjoys developing people, creating accountability, building culture, partnering with operations, and spending time in the manufacturing facilities understanding how the business operates. This individual earns respect through collaboration, integrity, and leadership.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 24 months the successful CFO will have built a stronger accounting team, improved reporting and forecasting, strengthened internal controls, improved inventory accuracy and costing visibility, successfully launched the company's ERP implementation, established meaningful executive KPIs, and become a trusted strategic advisor to executive leadership.
