Chief Financial Officer
The Opportunity
Our client, a manufacture /dealer of custom outdoor living spaces, is seeking a strategic, hands-on Chief Financial Officer to join its senior leadership team and help guide the company through its next stage of growth. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO will play a critical role in shaping and executing the company’s financial strategy, while providing trusted financial leadership across the organization.
This is a highly visible executive role for a finance leader who can balance strategic planning with operational execution. The successful candidate will partner closely with the CEO, divisional leaders, ownership, and cross-functional teams to strengthen financial performance, enhance reporting and controls, support business decision-making, and ensure the long-term financial health of the organization.
The Role
As CFO, you will oversee all fiscal, fiduciary, accounting, treasury, audit, tax, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting responsibilities for the organization. You will provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic initiatives, operational improvements, capital expenditures, pricing decisions, acquisitions, and long-term planning.
You will also be responsible for leading the finance function, strengthening internal controls, managing banking and insurance relationships, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, supporting dealer financial interactions, and ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and accuracy of all financial records and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the overall financial strategy for the company in partnership with the CEO and senior leadership team.
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, treasury, accounting operations, tax compliance, audits, and internal controls.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process to ensure timely, accurate, and meaningful reporting.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations related to acquisitions, expansions, new product lines, capital expenditures, pricing, and operational improvements.
- Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives, profitability analysis, margin analysis, product costing, and business planning.
- Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, covenant reporting, authorized signing authorities, liquidity planning, and cash positioning.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, vendor payments, dealer account reconciliations, credit management, and customer account reconciliation.
- Direct external audits, tax audits, government audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance with applicable federal, provincial/state, and international tax requirements.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce financial policies, approval authorities, segregation of duties, and internal control safeguards.
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Human Resources, and Information Technology to support business objectives.
- Present financial performance, forecasts, risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team and ownership.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate finance department staff while supporting business continuity, process documentation, and succession planning within financial operations.
What You Bring
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- MBA, HBA, master's degree in finance or accounting, or similar advanced education are considered an asset.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting role, with knowledge of both US and Canadian reporting.
- Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control, financial reporting, internal controls, business planning, and asset management.
- Experience with strategic planning, execution, change management, contracting, and negotiation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare financial reports, statements, projections, and actionable recommendations.
- Experience creating and managing budgets for a large, distributed organization.
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems; SAP knowledge is preferred.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, leadership, planning, prioritization, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- High degree of integrity, confidentiality, accountability, attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities, and support teams in producing quality work within tight timeframes.

Work Conditions
The salary range for this role is $175,000 and up and will be based on relevant experience. This role is required in the office 5 days a week and is located east of Toronto. You will also be responsible for attending and conducting presentations, using standard desktop technology and peripherals, and travel as required.
