A private equity-backed investment platform focused on the construction services sector is seeking a finance leader to help support its next phase of growth. The organization is executing a buy-and-build strategy, having recently completed its initial operating company acquisition with additional acquisitions planned.
This role offers the opportunity to build scalable finance and accounting infrastructure across a growing portfolio while partnering closely with executive leadership and ownership. Purpose of your position
Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will lead the accounting and finance function for the platform's first operating company while helping establish the financial foundation for future portfolio growth. The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, requiring someone who can elevate financial reporting, strengthen processes, partner with operations, and build a finance organization capable of supporting an acquisitive platform.
Primary responsibilities
- Lead all accounting and finance activities, including financial reporting, monthly close, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and internal controls.
- Design and implement scalable accounting processes, reporting standards, and financial infrastructure to support future growth.
- Develop meaningful financial reporting packages, KPIs, dashboards, and executive reporting for leadership, lenders, and ownership.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve project profitability reporting, cash flow visibility, working capital management, and overall business performance.
- Strengthen job costing, work-in-progress reporting, backlog analysis, and project margin visibility across the business.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, reporting, automation, and finance processes while increasing accuracy and efficiency.
- Support acquisition diligence, financial integration, and post-close implementation as new operating companies join the platform.
- Mentor and develop the existing accounting team while building upon their institutional knowledge and creating scalable best practices.
- Serve as a trusted business partner to executive leadership by providing financial insight that supports strategic decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA or public accounting background preferred.
- Progressive accounting and finance leadership experience within lower middle-market organizations.
- Strong technical accounting foundation with experience leading financial reporting, close, controls, and accounting operations.
- Experience within construction services, project-based businesses, industrial services, specialty contracting, field services, or similar environments.
- Strong understanding of job costing, work-in-progress accounting, and project reporting
- Experience supporting private equity-backed organizations, acquisitions, or multi-entity businesses is highly preferred.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to build scalable processes while working collaboratively with established teams.
- Excellent communication and business partnering skills across finance, operations, and executive leadership.
