CFO / President — Series B FinTech, New York (Confidential Search)
About the Company
A Series B-backed financial technology firm operating as a regulated broker-dealer and SEC-registered Alternative Trading System. The firm has built core market infrastructure, with several of the industry's largest institutions now live on the platform. Backed by leading strategic and institutional investors.
The Opportunity
This is a build role, not a maintenance one. The company is past its Series B and needs a CFO who operates as a genuine partner to the CEO, not a finance function bolted on after the fact. Scope runs beyond the P&L into investor relations, board management, and hands-on leadership across legal, HR, and general operations.
What You'll Own
Firm Leadership
- Partner directly with the CEO on strategic decisions across product, commercial, and company direction
- Represent the firm in board meetings and key client and investor conversations
- Step in for the CEO on strategic and operational matters with real decision-making authority
Financial Strategy & Infrastructure
- Build the company's accounting systems, controls, close process, and forecasting discipline
- Own capital planning, cash management, and runway modeling against growth and hiring plans
- Establish the reporting processes and KPIs that give the CEO and board a clear, current read on the business
- Partner with Product and Commercial on pricing, unit economics, and revenue recognition
Investor Relations & Board Management
- Own investor relations end to end: reporting cadence, board materials, ongoing communication with existing investors
- Lead or closely support future capital raises
- Serve as the primary point of contact for existing and prospective investors
Regulatory & Legal
- Drive compliance and legal oversight as a FINRA member broker-dealer and SEC-registered ATS
- Own the relationship with outside counsel, from vendor contracts through regulatory filings
- Ensure financial controls hold up to the standard expected of a regulated broker-dealer
What We're Looking For
- Senior leadership experience, ideally CXO or President, within financial services, fintech, or a regulated markets business
- Direct exposure to capital markets or institutional market structure
- Has sat inside a Series B raise or comparable capital process, either leading it or as the internal finance partner to the CEO and board through it
- Broker-dealer or ATS experience is a strong plus, not a requirement
- Comfortable operating without a fully built-out function around you
- Wants to own investor relations directly, not delegate it once things mature
- Willing to be hands-on across legal, HR, and general operations
