About NAVXCOMNAVXCOM is a space technology company developing advanced navigation, communication, and computing infrastructure for lunar, martian, and deep-space missions. Our mission is to enable reliable, secure, and cost-effective space operations. While our primary focus is the Space & Defense domain, our software-defined architectures are built for any environment where failure is not an option—from autonomous deep-sea vehicles to critical industrial control systems.
Role OverviewNAVXCOM is seeking a strategic and highly analytical Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to architect the financial foundation of our interplanetary infrastructure company. You will lead our capital strategy, bridging the gap between our aggressive engineering milestones and the complex realities of deep-tech venture financing and government contracting.
This is not a traditional corporate finance role; this is a high-stakes, capital-intensive aerospace startup role. In the immediate short-term, your primary objective will be partnering directly with the CEO to drive our seed and institutional fundraising efforts. As we secure capital and transition into our mid-term growth phase, you will pivot to act as the company's Treasurer, establishing rigorous budget controls, managing extreme CapEx models, and ensuring our cash runway precisely aligns with hardware fabrication and launch schedules.
In this early stage, you must be willing to roll up your sleeves and execute low-level, day-to-day financial modeling, cap table management, and pitch deck refinement yourself. You will be actively building pro formas, managing investor data rooms, and structuring term sheets until funding is secured and a dedicated finance team can be built.
Note: This position is currently unpaid until funding is secured. High-value equity compensation is provided as a Co-Founder/Executive level partner.
Why Join NAVXCOM- Funding the Cosmos: Your financial strategies and capital raises will literally fund humanity’s communication bridge to the Moon and Mars.
- Architectural Freedom: You aren't inheriting a messy corporate ledger; you are building the financial architecture, ERP systems, and internal controls from a blank slate.
- High-Stakes Finance: You will solve complex capital problems where massive hardware CapEx, strict government compliance, and venture scale all collide.
Key Responsibilities (Not limited to)Fundraising & Capital Strategy (Short-Term)

- Partner with the CEO to pitch venture capital firms, angel syndicates, and strategic aerospace partners.
- Manage the capitalization table, evaluate term sheets, and structure equity, debt, or SAFE agreements to optimize dilution and capital access.
Budgeting & Financial Operations (Mid-Term)
- Act as the ultimate owner of the company budget, working closely with engineering leads to model and manage the extreme CapEx and OpEx requirements of space hardware development.
- Establish strict cash flow management and burn-rate tracking to ensure the company reaches critical technical milestones (e.g., flight-ready hardware) before running out of runway.
- Design, implement, and manage internal financial systems, ERP software, and bookkeeping processes.
Treasury & Compliance
- Act as the company Treasurer, managing corporate bank accounts, cash reserves, and short-term investment strategies to optimize yield while maintaining liquidity.
- Architect compliance frameworks for government contracting, ensuring the company is prepared for Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) audits and SBIR/STTR grant accounting.
- Oversee tax strategy, payroll administration setup, and annual financial audits.
Leadership & Team Building
- Recruit and mentor a high-performing finance team, including controllers, FP&A analysts, and procurement specialists (post-funding).
- Enforce rigorous financial discipline, risk management, and procurement standards across all departments.
Compensation & Commitment- Compensation: No salary initially (unpaid until funding is secured).
- Equity: 5% equity in NAVXCOM at no cost, vested over 2 years.

Required Qualifications- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or Master’s preferred).

- Environment: Proven track record of successfully raising institutional capital (Seed/Series A or beyond) for capital-intensive companies.
- Citizenship: U.S. citizen with the ability to handle export-controlled (ITAR/EAR) information and eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
- Mindset: A scrappy, strategic thinker who can seamlessly transition from high-level board negotiations to deep-diving into spreadsheet formulas.
Preferred Qualifications- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
- Direct financial experience in the aerospace, defense, or telecommunications industries.
- Deep understanding of U.S. government contracting, FAR/DFARS regulations, and DCAA-compliant accounting systems.
