An established, international, privately owned retail business is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team. This is a unique opportunity for a commercially minded finance leader to partner closely with the CEO and ownership group, helping shape the future direction of a successful multi-site retail organisation.
We are looking for a hands-on finance executive who combines strong financial controllership with commercial insight and operational leadership. The successful candidate will bring deep retail experience, a passion for using data to drive decision-making, and the ability to work effectively across a collaborative, values-led organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of the finance function, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, tax and audit.
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to drive profitability, operational efficiency and business performance.
- Provide strategic financial guidance on growth initiatives, investments and long-term planning.
- Oversee inventory accounting, merchandise control, margin management and working capital optimisation.
- Drive financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making across stores, ecommerce and corporate operations.
- Manage banking relationships, risk management and insurance programmes.
- Lead and develop high-performing finance, accounting and related support teams.
- Champion continuous improvement, technology adoption and data-driven decision making across the organisation.
Candidate Profile
- CPA qualified (essential).
- Significant senior finance leadership experience, ideally 10+ years in progressive leadership roles.
- Strong retail sector experience, preferably within multi-site, omni-channel or consumer-facing businesses.
- Experience with inventory-intensive retail environments and a strong understanding of retail KPIs, including gross margin, inventory turnover, shrink and labour cost management.
- Proven track record of partnering with executive leadership to deliver business growth and operational improvement.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems, ideally Oracle E-Business Suite.
- A highly operational, visible and hands-on leadership style.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
