The Regional Sales & Operation Planning Manager is responsible for controlling the manufacturing, materials, and demand planning across the company’s US operations and customer base.
Essential Functions/Key Deliverables
- Own the S&OP process which includes working with sales to determine demand, finalize and implement the constrained forecast, and determine and manage inventory levels.
- Be the business Leader for owning all planning functions for beverage Cans and Ends to supply the US market.
- Be fluent at planning on long term strategic, budget, and tactical time horizons ranging from weekly to multi-year.
- Deliver annual production planning and materials working capital budgets and quarterly updates.
- Manage a direct report team 2-3 individuals, who oversee 4-5 employees.
- Develop finished goods, and production run strategy based on customer demand profiles and desired service levels. This will include beverage Ends planning on a global scale.
- Create tools that signal adverse conditions or opportunities months in advance. Communicate these trends effectively to Leadership, and offer potential solutions.
- Develop KPIs and drive continuous improvement in areas such as:
OTIF (On Time In Full), Service Levels
Schedule Attainment, Schedule Stability
Changeover planning effectiveness
Inventory turns, inventory obsolescence
Demand & Capacity forecast variation
- Gather large data sets and convert to information that drives sound business decisions.
- Partner with Sales and external Customers to effectively forecast demand based on contract volumes, customer patterns, and industry trends. Measure and report on forecast versus actuals. Support Leadership with risk assessments and mitigation activities.
- Responsible for the team that schedules production lines to meet customer and forecasted demands. Measure and report on production forecast versus actuals.
- Maintain and implement good management practices for Materials Resource Planning.
- Manage FG and Raw Materials stock effectively to meet seasonal demands. Develop and implement planning processes that reduce stockouts but still maintain working capital targets.
- Maintain high level of inventory accuracy, and drive practices that the production planning team owns and also coach other departments in best practices.
- Communicate the planning of production and/or stoppage of production lines to management.
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of planning systems, including performing internal audits training as required.
- Effectively use SAP and computerized systems. Be curious and leverage SAP to develop better planning capability.
- Maintain good relationships with cross-functional departments, especially Sales, Operations, and Logistics related functions.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment that is subject to customer changes, and production rates variation.
- Perform any other duty reasonable corresponding with the role.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Business degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain/Business Logistics with 10+ years of industry experience.
- Demonstrated direct management of teams, and ability to work with other disciplines.
- Previous SAP experience a plus, but must have strong working knowledge of ERP & MRP platforms.
- Has experience in Lean, Continuous Improvement, Process Mapping.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to draw conclusions from data.
- MS Office including in depth Excel experience.
- Strong critical-thinking skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy and organization.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to function both independently and as part of a team; must be flexible and excited to grow with the organization.
