Corporate Controller, Manufacturing (CFO Track)
Location: Frisco, TX (On-site)
ABOUT THE ROLE
A leading national manufacturer — backed by a private equity sponsor and operating across a large, multi-site footprint — is seeking a strategic finance leader to serve as a true operational and strategic partner to the CEO.
This is not a heads-down accounting seat. A capable leader already runs the accounting function. The mandate here is treasury and liquidity management, margin analysis, forecasting, and oversight of administration and contracts across a decentralized, 20+ site operation — with a clear, earned succession path to CFO.
You will lead an organization of roughly 45 people, with 5–6 direct reports and a further 15–20 in the next layer. The person who succeeds in this seat is the one the CEO never has to follow up with.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Treasury & Cash Management
- Own cash forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital management across a multi-site footprint
- Manage banking relationships, credit facility mechanics, borrowing base, and covenant compliance
- Drive inventory and DIO discipline in a business with long production and drying cycles
Margin Analysis & Commercial Finance
- Own margin analysis by site, product, and customer; identify where value is created and lost
- Partner with mill and yard operations on yield, conversion cost, absorption, and freight/landed cost
- Translate operational performance into decisions the executive team can act on
Forecasting, Planning & Sponsor Reporting
- Lead forecasting, annual budgeting, and long-range planning
- Own reporting to the private equity sponsor and board, including KPI and covenant packages
- Build the analytical case behind capital allocation and strategic decisions
Administration & Contracts
- Oversee contract administration and commercial agreements alongside external counsel
- Provide oversight of insurance, risk, and related administrative functions
Leadership & CEO Partnership
- Act as a direct strategic partner to the CEO with full ownership of commitments end to end
- Lead, develop, and hold accountable a finance and administration organization of ~45
- Maintain a strong accounting function through an existing leader rather than running it directly
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA is welcome but not required
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership, including substantial time in manufacturing or raw-material processing (mill, plant, or production environment — not distribution alone)
- Demonstrated ownership of treasury, cash forecasting, and lender or covenant management for a business with $100M+ in revenue
- Strong multi-site margin analysis and forecasting capability; comfort with standard costing, variance, and absorption concepts
- Experience reporting to a private equity sponsor or institutional owner
- Proven track record leading a sizeable finance organization across decentralized locations
- Advanced ERP and reporting-tool experience; strong Excel
- Background in industrial or materials manufacturing (building products, lumber, wood products, metals, aggregates, glass, packaging, or process manufacturing) preferred
