Chief Financial Officer - Commercial Construction

A leading commercial construction organization is seeking a strategic CFO to lead its finance and accounting functions and partner with executive and operational leadership to drive financial performance, growth, and risk management.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all finance, accounting, treasury, and financial reporting functions.
- Serve as a strategic financial advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and long-term financial planning.
- Direct construction accounting, including job costing, WIP, revenue recognition, project forecasting, and profitability.
- Manage audits, internal controls, financial reporting, and accounting policies.
- Oversee banking, debt, lender reporting, and surety/bonding relationships.
- Lead ESOP valuation, accounting, compliance, repurchase planning, and trustee/advisor relationships.
- Partner with operations to improve project performance, margins, cash flow, and risk management.
- Support acquisitions, financing, capital structure, and other strategic initiatives.
- Lead and develop the finance and accounting team.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including 5+ years in commercial construction.
- Prior CFO, VP Finance, Controller, or comparable senior finance leadership experience.
- Experience with a $100M+ commercial general contractor or building subcontractor.
- Hands-on ESOP experience, including valuations, accounting, compliance, and repurchase planning.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, WIP, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Proven experience leading finance teams and partnering with executive and operational leadership.
- CPA, MBA, or advanced degree in finance/accounting preferred.
- Strong career progression and demonstrated long-term tenure with prior employers.
- Willingness to relocate to Utah; relocation assistance available.
