Whitman Advisory is partnering with an established, privately held consumer products and manufacturing company to identify an accomplished Chief Financial Officer who will help lead the organization through its next stage of growth.
This is a highly visible, hands-on executive leadership opportunity for a commercially minded finance leader with experience in an inventory-intensive, product-based business spanning manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, e-commerce/DTC, and retail.
Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the ownership team, the CFO will serve as a trusted strategic advisor—translating growth objectives into financial plans, operating metrics, capital decisions, and measurable business results.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the Finance, Accounting, FP&A, and Human Resources functions
• Partner closely with the CEO, ownership, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Technology
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, cash-flow management, and strategic financial analysis
• Develop KPI-driven reporting and executive dashboards to improve visibility and decision-making
• Provide profitability analysis across products, customers, and sales channels
• Analyze revenue, gross margin, COGS, operating expenses, and ROI to identify opportunities for improved performance
• Optimize inventory investment, working capital, purchasing requirements, and vendor terms
• Partner with Operations and Supply Chain on product costing, inventory valuation, logistics, and manufacturing productivity
• Maintain strong accounting, financial reporting, controls, audit, tax, banking, insurance, and risk-management disciplines
• Oversee key external relationships, including banking, insurance, PEO, accounting, and legal partners
• Manage union relations, including collective bargaining negotiations and ongoing communication with union representatives
• Evaluate new business opportunities, channel expansion, capital expenditures, and strategic investments
• Optimize Oracle NetSuite, automation, reporting, and systems integration to strengthen data integrity and reduce manual processes
• Support international trade and global importing matters
What We’re Looking For
• 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, Controller, or comparable senior finance executive
• Significant experience within consumer products, manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, retail, or another inventory-intensive business
• Strong executive presence with the ability to advise a CEO and ownership group
• Demonstrated experience scaling a business across multiple channels, ideally including wholesale, e-commerce/DTC, and retail
• Strong FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow, and working-capital expertise
• Deep understanding of inventory management, product costing, COGS, gross margin, purchasing, and supply-chain economics
• Ability to evaluate profitability at the product, customer, and channel level
• Experience with international trade and global importing issues
• Track record of translating complex financial and operational information into clear recommendations and action
• Experience improving financial systems, reporting, controls, and processes
• Oracle NetSuite experience strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline
