About the Role
The Chief Financial Officer will oversee all financial, investment accounting, and operational aspects of a $1B single-family office. This remote, East Coast-based role requires a strong leader who balances financial management accounting with managing the operations and house managers. Small staff. The ideal candidate brings extensive investment accounting expertise and deep single-family office experience to manage both the investment accounting and budgeting and private family operations.
Responsibilities
- Financial Strategy & Analysis
- Lead annual budgeting and financial forecasting for all family entities, trusts, and operating businesses.
- Manage liquid cash flow and capital call planning for private equity and real estate investments.
- Provide strategic financial counsel to family members and the board of directors.
- Investment Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee comprehensive investment accounting for a diverse $1B multi-asset class portfolio.
- Deliver accurate, timely net worth reporting, performance tracking, and financial statements.
- Partner with external investment advisors and custodians to reconcile portfolio data.
- Tax Coordination & Compliance
- Act as the primary liaison with external CPA firms to coordinate complex tax planning and preparation.
- Ensure compliance across intricate structures, including trusts, partnerships, and foundations.
- Oversee wealth transfer strategies, estate planning execution, and philanthropic accounting.
- Family Operations & Lifestyle Management
- Supervise household staff, estate managers, and private property operations.
- Manage vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and payroll for domestic employees.
- Oversee insurance risk management for high-value personal assets, aviation, and real estate.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive financial leadership, with mandatory single-family office experience.
- Domain Expertise: Proven track record in complex multi-asset investment accounting.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CFA designation highly preferred.
- Location: Must reside on the US East Coast to align with family and partner schedules.
- Attributes: Absolute discretion, low-ego mentality, and exceptional communication skills.
