Benskin Talent Partners has been exclusively engaged to conduct a confidential search for a Chief Financial Officer on behalf of our client, a PE-backed specialty services platform headquartered in St. Louis, MO.
About the Company
Our client is a rapidly growing, tech-enabled specialty services platform headquartered in St. Louis. Backed by a leading private equity firm, the company has completed seven acquisitions in the past 18 months and has surpassed $50M in annual revenue.
This business is well past the startup phase and moving with conviction toward scale. The CEO is a proven operator with a track record of building and integrating service companies, a clear long-term vision, and a bias for decisive action.
The Opportunity
This is not a back-office CFO seat. The CEO is looking for a genuine business partner: someone with financial rigor who thinks and acts operationally, who wants to be in the room for every strategic decision, and who has the ambition to grow into a CEO or COO within 2-4 years. The CFO will function as the Chief of Staff and #2 to the CEO.
If you are a finance executive ready to move beyond spreadsheets and into a seat at the table with real equity in the outcome, this deserves your attention.
What You Will Own
- Serve as strategic partner and #2 to the CEO, operating as Chief of Staff across the enterprise
- Lead the finance organization and drive uplift in accounting operations, FP&A, and reporting
- Own the PE investor cadence, including weekly meetings and board reporting
- Drive M&A execution, due diligence, and post-close integration across a growing portfolio
- Partner with operational leadership on pricing, growth strategy, and services expansion
- Lead the company through exit preparation, including investor readiness and due diligence process
- Evaluate and champion technology and AI tools to drive efficiency and decision-making across the business
What We Are Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership, ideally including CFO or VP Finance experience
- Background in PE-backed, high-growth, or acquisition-intensive environments
- Experience in post-acquisition integration and operating in a high-growth, acquisition-driven environment
- Big 4 accounting background a plus
- Operational mindset with a desire to get close to the business, not just report on it
- High EQ, executive presence, and the ability to build relationships up, down, and sideways
- Genuine ambition to step into a CEO or COO role over time
- St. Louis-based or willing to relocate (on-site presence required)
Compensation and Equity
- Competitive base salary and annual performance bonus. Meaningful equity participation structured for significant upside at exit, including favorable tax treatment. Anticipated hold period: 2.5-4 years.
