Chief Financial Officer

Lead financial strategy and growth as Chief Financial Officer of Amberwell Health in Atchison, Kansas!
The Position
- The Chief Financial Officer will provide strategic financial leadership to advance organizational growth, ensure long-term sustainability, and support the delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Oversight will encompass two hospitals and additional clinic locations across the Amberwell Health system.
- Partnering closely with the CEO and executive leadership team, the CFO will evaluate new business and service line opportunities, strengthen revenue and operational performance, and identify creative financing solutions to support organizational priorities.
- The ideal candidate will be a strategic, entrepreneurial, and growth-oriented financial leader who balances financial discipline with innovation and calculated risk. This individual will bring strong healthcare finance expertise and business acumen, a collaborative and engaging leadership style, and an appreciation for independent rural healthcare.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required; Master’s degree is preferred.
- CPA certification is highly preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a healthcare financial leadership role is required, preferably within a rural or critical access hospital setting.

The Organization
- Amberwell Health is a regional healthcare system serving communities throughout northeast Kansas through two critical access hospitals, Amberwell Atchison and Amberwell Hiawatha, along with approximately eight outpatient clinics throughout the region.
- With approximately 750 employees and $92 million in combined net patient revenue, the system maintains a significant regional presence and provides comprehensive healthcare services across its hospital and ambulatory locations.
- Amberwell Atchison serves as the system’s flagship hospital and generates approximately $58 million in net patient revenue, while Amberwell Hiawatha generates approximately $34 million. The two hospitals are located approximately 40 miles apart, supporting an integrated regional network of care.
- The system provides a broad range of inpatient, outpatient, emergency, surgical, obstetric, primary care, and specialty services, with obstetric care offered at both hospital campuses.
- Amberwell Health continues to invest in strategic growth and expanded access to care, including the addition of retail pharmacy services and the expansion of specialty care offerings, such as a recently announced oncology development.
