About Camp Snap
Camp Snap is a fast-growing global consumer electronics brand built around a simple idea: helping people capture memories without the distractions of a smartphone.
What started as a direct-to-consumer eCommerce business has rapidly expanded into a global, omnichannel brand across DTC, major brick-and-mortar retailers, specialty retail, and international distribution.
As we scale, we are building the financial infrastructure, systems, controls, data capabilities, and team
required to support Camp Snap's next stage of growth.
Role overview
We are looking for a hands-on, highly capable Chief Financial Officer to build and lead the financial
organization at Camp Snap. This is not a CFO role for someone who wants to operate exclusively at the strategic or board level. We need a leader who thinks strategically while also rolling up their sleeves.
The right person will be equally comfortable discussing financial strategy with the CEO, building the finance organization, reviewing a cash-flow forecast, digging into inventory accounting, challenging a reconciliation, evaluating retailer profitability, or working through an issue directly with the accounting team.
We strongly prefer a Big 4 accounting foundation, ideally combined with operating experience inside a rapidlygrowing consumer products, consumer electronics, retail, or eCommerce business.
We care more about capability, intelligence, ownership, and trajectory than years of experience or prior titles. An exceptional VP/SVP of Finance, divisional CFO, Controller/Finance leader, or other high-potential executive ready to step into a broader CFO role could be a great fit.
Camp Snap is a global business. This person must think beyond the United States and build a finance
organization that provides visibility and control across domestic and international DTC, retail, distribution, inventory, and operations. We also want a CFO who personally uses AI and pushes the organization to operate differently because it
exists.
The CFO will report directly to the CEO and lead the overall Finance and Accounting organization, including the Director of FP&A & Strategic Finance.
Accounting & financial controls
■ Lead all accounting, financial reporting, controllership, and monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
■ Maintain GAAP policies, procedures, internal controls, reconciliations, accruals, reserves, revenue
recognition, and inventory accounting.
■ Own relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial service providers.
■ Prepare the company for increasingly sophisticated audit, banking, investor, and transaction
requirements.
■ Establish scalable controls without unnecessary bureaucracy, and personally dig into accounting issues
when necessary.
FP&A & strategic finance
■ Lead the financial planning process, with the Director of FP&A & Strategic Finance responsible for much
of the day-to-day execution.
■ Oversee budgets, rolling forecasts, long-range planning, and scenario modeling.
■ Challenge assumptions and ensure forecasts reflect the underlying operating business.
■ Develop visibility into revenue, gross margin, contribution margin, EBITDA, working capital, and cash flow.
■ Translate financial information into clear recommendations for the CEO and leadership team.
■ Ensure Finance acts as a strategic partner to Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations.
Cash flow, treasury & working capital
■ Own cash forecasting, treasury, liquidity, banking relationships, credit facilities, and working capital
management.
■ Optimize working capital across inventory, AR, AP, and vendor terms, and establish cash and payment
controls that ensure sufficient liquidity to support rapid growth.
Inventory & supply chain finance
Inventory is one of Camp Snap's most important uses of capital.
■ Maintain financial control and visibility over inventory across warehouses, countries, channels, and goods
in transit.
■ Ensure accurate inventory accounting, costing, reserves, reconciliation, and landed costs, including
product costs, freight, duties, and tariffs.
■ Partner with FP&A, Product, and Operations on demand planning and inventory purchasing.
■ Monitor inventory turns, weeks of supply, aging, excess inventory, and stockout risks.
■ Balance growth, product availability, and working capital in purchasing decisions.
DTC, eCommerce & retail finance
■ Understand Camp Snap's DTC economics, including revenue, gross margin, contribution margin, CAC, AOV, LTV, returns, discounts, and marketing investment.
■ Understand retailer, wholesale, and international distributor economics.
■ Ensure visibility into customer-level revenue, margins, deductions, allowances, returns, markdowns, and payment terms.
■ Partner with Sales and FP&A on pricing and margin requirements, and evaluate new retailers, distributors,
markets, and channels.
■ Ensure profitability is understood by product, customer, channel, and geography.
Global finance
■ Oversee financial operations across the U.S. and international markets, including Europe, the UK, APAC,
LATAM, and other regions as the business expands.
■ Develop consolidated global reporting and controls, and manage international accounting, tax, treasury,
currency, and compliance with external support.
■ Understand distributor economics, international pricing, freight, duties, taxes, and foreign exchange
impacts.
■ Build visibility by country, region, distributor, and channel to support continued international expansion.
AI, data, systems & automation
We believe AI should be a daily companion to the modern finance organization, not a side project owned by IT. We expect the CFO to personally embrace AI and create a culture where Finance continually asks: Can this be automated? Can AI help us do this faster? Can we connect directly to the underlying data? Can we eliminate this manual process entirely?
■ Personally use Claude, ChatGPT, and emerging AI platforms, and build AI fluency across Finance and Accounting.
■ Use AI to accelerate analysis, research, modeling, variance investigation, reporting, documentation, close, forecasting, and cash management.
■ Identify accounting, reconciliation, reporting, and FP&A processes that can be automated.
■ Be comfortable with databases, structured data, APIs, BI tools, and automation platforms.
■ Push the organization toward direct access to underlying data, rather than an endless cycle of manually exporting and manipulating spreadsheets.
■ Build automated data flows across eCommerce, retail, ERP, inventory, banking, marketing, and financial systems.
■ Build a finance organization that can scale materially without assuming every increase in complexity
requires additional headcount. We are not looking for someone who simply says they are "open to AI." We want someone who is curious about it, actively uses it, experiments with it, and believes it will fundamentally change how world-class finance organizations operate.
Leadership & team building
■ Build and lead a high-performing global Finance and Accounting organization.
■ Directly manage and develop senior finance leaders, including the Director of FP&A & Strategic Finance.
■ Shape the organization as the company scales, recruit strong talent where needed, and establish clear ownership, accountability, operating rhythms, and high standards.
■ Create an environment where leaders understand the details of their functions rather than managing through layers of people.
What we're looking for
■ Strong accounting and financial reporting foundation.
■ Big 4 accounting experience strongly preferred.
■ CPA strongly preferred.
■ Meaningful operating-company finance experience following public accounting.
■ Experience leading, or playing a significant role within, a Finance and Accounting organization.
■ Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, controls, audit, and accounting operations.
■ Experience in consumer electronics, consumer products, retail, eCommerce, or another
inventory-intensive physical-goods business strongly preferred.
■ Exposure to both DTC/eCommerce and brick-and-mortar retail/wholesale.
■ Strong understanding of inventory, COGS, landed costs, working capital, cash flow, and supply-chain economics.
■ Strong FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and modeling capabilities.
■ Comfort with ERP systems, databases, BI tools, and large datasets.
■ High degree of AI fluency and willingness to personally use AI tools every day.
■ Track record of improving systems, automation, and challenging inefficient ways of working.
■ Strong analytical ability, commercial judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work with the CEO and senior leadership. Prior CFO experience is not required. We are open to an exceptional finance leader ready to step into their first CFO position.
The person we're looking for
We are looking for someone who combines CFO-level thinking with an operator's mentality and can move between the 30,000-foot view and the details.
If an account doesn't reconcile, understand why. If a cash forecast doesn't make sense, open the model. If inventory is wrong, know where to look. If someone spends four hours every week manually assembling the same report, ask why that process still exists and whether AI, automation, or better data architecture can eliminate it.
We are looking for a builder, operator, leader, technologist, and financial partner who stays close to the work.
What success looks like
Leadership should clearly understand where we are today, where we are going, how much cash and
inventory we need, where we make money, where we take risk, and where we should invest next.
The CFO will create the financial infrastructure, team, systems, controls, and discipline necessary for Camp Snap to evolve from a rapidly growing entrepreneurial company into a major global consumer brand.
