About the Role
You will own finance end to end: the numbers we run the business on, the story we tell, and the controls and structures that hold a multi-country operation together. You will work directly with the founders and the leadership team.
Responsibilities
Strategic finance and FP&A
- Own the annual operating plan, the long-range model and the monthly forecast, and hold the business accountable to them
- Build the unit economics view of the business: contribution margin by market, channel and supply type, cohort behaviour, payback and LTV/CAC
- Partner with Growth, Supply and Product on pricing, commission structures and market entry decisions, with the financial case behind each one
- Run capital allocation: where we spend, what we stop, and what returns wehold each function to
- Run any potential M&A transactions
Fundraising and investor relations
- Run the fundraise round whenever comes end to end: model, narrative, data room, diligence, and support on term sheet negotiation
- Own the board pack, the quarterly investor update and the relationship with existing investors between rounds
- Build and maintain the debt and working capital options that suit the business and manage banking relationship
Controllership, tax and global structuring
- Own accounting, monthly close, statutory reporting and the internal control environment across all entities
- Manage a multi-entity, multi-currency structure: transfer pricing, cross-border flows, FEMA and RBI compliance, and international tax exposure across our operating markets
- Own direct and indirect tax compliance, assessments and litigation, in India and in overseas jurisdictions
- Run treasury: cash flow, FX exposure, payment rails across markets, and the controls around all of it
- Coordinate statutory and internal audits, and hold clean, timely closes as a standard rather than an achievement
Team and systems
- Lead a finance team which is already in place
- Whenever required hire and develop the finance team across FP&A, controllership and accounts
Qualifications
- CA with 10+ years of experience, including at least 4 years leading a finance team
- Experience in a high-growth environment
- Strong command of corporate finance and investor relations, with real exposure to fundraising and diligence
- Depth in direct and indirect tax compliance, and comfort with multi-entity and multi-currency operations
- Analytical strength: you build the model yourself and can defend every assumption in it
- Clear communication with founders, board members, investors and auditors
Good to have
- Experience taking a company through a Series B or later round
- Exposure to international entity setup, transfer pricing or overseas tax structuring
- Having built or replaced a finance system stack during a period of fast growth
