Job Purpose
We are looking for a proactive, analytical, and detail-oriented Sales Operations & Category Executive to support the Sales team by driving data accuracy, inventory visibility, category analytics, procurement coordination, and vendor management.
The role will be responsible for maintaining complete visibility of Stock on Hand (SOH) across all retail channels, managing sales reporting, supporting category performance, coordinating procurement activities, and ensuring smooth operational execution across Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing, and external retail partners.
Following an initial knowledge transfer from the existing team, the candidate will take complete ownership of sales operations and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales MIS & Business Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports.
- Publish retailer-wise, region-wise, store-wise, SKU-wise, and channel-wise dashboards.
- Track sales targets, achievement, productivity, and growth.
- Prepare business review presentations for leadership.
- Build and automate MIS reports using Microsoft Excel.
- Ensure timely circulation of all business reports.
2. Inventory & Stock Management
- Maintain accurate Stock on Hand (SOH) visibility across all retail stores.
- Track stock availability, stock-outs, ageing inventory, excess stock, and inventory health.
- Monitor Daily Run Rate (DRR), Weeks of Cover (WOC), and replenishment requirements.
- Highlight stock risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain to ensure timely replenishment.
- Recommend stock transfers to optimize inventory across locations.
3. Category Management
- Track SKU performance across retailers and channels.
- Identify fast-moving, slow-moving, and non-performing SKUs.
- Support assortment planning and SKU rationalization.
- Monitor new product launches and category performance.
- Analyse sales trends, consumer demand, and category growth opportunities.
- Prepare periodic category performance reports.
4. Purchase Orders & Procurement
- Raise Purchase Orders (POs) through the ERP/software platform.
- Create and manage indents based on inventory requirements and sales forecasts.
- Track open Purchase Orders until closure.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and vendors for timely procurement.
- Ensure procurement documentation is complete and accurate.
- Monitor order fulfilment and delivery timelines.
5. Vendor Management
- Track vendor performance, turnaround times, and service levels.
- Ensure timely sharing of required documents with vendors.
6. Commercial & Payment Coordination
- Coordinate with the Finance team to ensure timely vendor payments.
- Track invoice submissions, payment status, and outstanding balances.
- Follow up on pending invoices, debit notes, credit notes, and reconciliations.
- Update vendor information on internal software platforms.
- Support month-end commercial reconciliations.
- Ensure smooth coordination between vendors and Finance.
7. Retail Operations Support
- Maintain store master, SKU master, pricing, and assortment data.
- Track new store openings and assortment readiness.
- Monitor planogram and Visual Merchandising (VM) compliance wherever applicable.
- Coordinate with retail partners for operational requirements.
- Support product listings, delistings, and assortment updates.
8. Business Planning & Analysis
- Support monthly forecasting and demand planning.
- Assist in sales target allocation and business planning.
- Analyse promotional performance and campaign effectiveness.
- Identify business opportunities through data analysis.
- Generate insights to improve sales and inventory productivity.
9. Process Improvement
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of all business data.
- Standardize reporting formats and operating procedures.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting.
- Improve operational efficiency through process enhancements.
- Maintain historical databases and reporting archives.
Skills & Qualifications
- Graduate in Commerce, Business Management, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- 5-7 years of experience in Sales Operations, MIS, Category Management, Procurement, or Business Analytics.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with ERP systems
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
